I agree maybe its a bit of that too. But my SO did the same thing you said yours does.

Money isn't much compared to having a parent in your life, or someone helping you with parental duties.

he is in the military and cannot just choose to stay and ''do his parental duty'' when he is scheduled to be stationed away from them . Your negative comments arent warranted in this situation because it was OP's decision to live 2hrs away from SO untill he is stationed back home.

Well aware of how the military works. None of what I said had anything to do with him deploying. It has to do with her parenting alone 2.5 hours away and him making it out to be her fault that he isn't getting her undivided attention. That has nothing to do with the military.

it was her choice to parent alone and she stated that it ''seems like he may be jealous of attetion the baby is getting''.....that may not be the case, mabe he is jealous of her getting all of the babys attention or mabe he just has no clue what his real role is yet.The babys only 3wks old. Most couples that live together dont have things figured out at 3wks. OP needs to be discussing this w/SO.

The only bad behavior i see in this senerio is a lack of communication between OP and her SO.

I think it's just harder for fathers to connect with their children emotionally/physically because they weren't the ones carrying for 9 months straight. It may just be tough for him because he's only seen his son 3 times since he's been born.. He should still try and help with the duties though, and try and become closer to him before he's gone.

you need to talk w/him about your concerns. he may need you to show him how to hold the baby securely & change diapers.

I think he's keeping distance cause he's deploying to Afghan/Mali any time soon.
