What's the going rate to pay a fulltime, in-house sitter/nannie, 40 hours a week for watching 6 kids?

in house as in live-in in? here in san francisco the average for one child is $10-13/hr. i'd say for 6 kids it's prolly gonna be at least $17-20/hr if you get a nice nanny

not live-in, but comes to watch the kids at the house instead of them going to a day care

This is along my line of work and I wouldn't have six kids for under $20 an hour...probably more if they were all home all day long...

Call around to nanny services to get an estimate. I would go through a licensed agency if I were you!

As a comparisson I teach preschool and have 16 3 year old with one other person to help. I make around 15 an hour. If you were to pay that or more the nanny should be educated and be running activities for the children such as art, langeage, and sciencs activities!

this was also my profession for 8 years. you may be able to get a better deal if you go on craigslist, but make usre you do a backround check on the ppl
