Are these contractions?

I've been getting these really sharp pains in my pelvic area and when they happen its like a wave of pain, at first they're subtle and then they get strong and it like jolts my body it lasts for like a min or less and towards the end of it, it's not as painful. Idk how to explain it very well which is frustrating. It also hurts if I tighten my stomach muscles. When I went to the doctors yesterday they said I'm 2 cm dilated. For the past two days now they've been happening a lot more frequently. I was due on the 24 btw.

That's how my contractions feel. I'd go in and get checked out/monitored. Keep us posted and God bless mama!!

Really? I keep hearing different things, like people saying, oh you'll definitely know! Meaning that I should be in horrible pain, they're not that painful but when I was at doctors and hooked up to the non stress test machine, the nurse said I had a contraction and I didn't feel anything. Its so confusing, but thank you!

Definitely could be contractions. I didn't really notice mine at first, they didn't get painful until a couple of hours into labor (my water broke first)

I wish my water would just break so I knew for sure that something was happening instead of being confused and guessing

I would just wait and see if they get worse and then go in. If it's your first baby, your labor will probably last awhile so you'll have time to make it to the hospital.

Ok, yeah I don't want to end up going there for them to send me home

It is def. contractions then because they cause your stomach to get really hard.

Everything is good, still no baby though   I had really strong contractions last night but barely any today.... I was hoping last night I was going to go into labor.

Awww. I was in labor for almost three days with my youngest. Walk as much as you can. That helps me a lot. Hope you have a healthy happy baby soon! God bless  

DO NOT GO BY PAIN! with my first i wasnt in any actual pain that whole day... then my water broke at home! andddd still no pain for about half hour after that. AND just because it is your first baby does not mean that it will be a long labour, my first was born in less then 3 hours! if at any time you are concerned go to the hospital and get checked! better to be safe then sorry! good luck!
