crock pot help
posted 26th Jan
So I don't know how to cook at all. I have a crock pot that I've never used. I'm thinking about making chicken breast and I have a bag of frozen veggies. Do I throw it all in and just add water? How do I give it a flavor while cooking? I sound ridiculous.

You can do it that way...I usually use chicken broth instead of water. What are you trying to make? Just chicken breast? Or is it soup?

I've never tried chicken in a crock pot, but you add seasonings to the water and just let it cook.

Add a couple cups of chicken broth instead of water, throw in some Italian seasoning or rosemary and thyme to season.
Any fresh herb?

I wouldn't stick frozen veggies in it they will get really soggy.
Look up chicken breast recipes, there are many. I don't eat meat but, my sister lives chicken breast and a jar of salsa on low do four hours. Then she shreds it for tacos.

Do you have any cream of chicken? I'd throw the breasts in, the veggies, dash on some seasoning, empty a can of cream of chicken, maybe some shredded cheese and let it cook. You could shred the chicken and serve it over rice, or noodles.

I just did a recipe that all it was was two chicken breasts, 1 cup of uncooked rice, 2 cans of cream of celery, 1 can of cream of chicken, 1 can of chicken broth, and 1 cup of diced celery ribs. Mix it all up in the crock pot and cook on low for 6 hours.

i do chicken breast, cream of mushroom soup, some garlic powder, salt, pepper, parsley, 1/2 cup cooking wine, and frozen veggies and do it on lo for 8 hours, or hi for 4 or 5 hours. about an hour before i want to eat it, i dump in a jar of pearl onions (if you don't have these, use chopped onion at the beginning, and if you don't like onion, omit it altogether). it comes out like chicken pot pie filling. i serve it with biscuits.
