Exactly. It's not like these girls are just dancing like this out of no where. It's a performance. All the costumes are pretty skimpy because they have to be able to flex and move. I mean they could have done without the thigh highs but I don't think they are that big of a deal. And the make up being caked on is so the audience can see your facial expressions better and from far away.

It annoys me when people bring up "the pedophile could be watching your child dancing like that" Ummm a pedophile will look at your child no matter what they are wearing or what they are doing. Just throwing some common sense out there. I'm not talking about anyone in general here. I see it so much on this topic alone. It's a pet peeve of mine.

I can't do it without ending up in the hospital. In fact, I don't know anyone who can do it who has never been in dance most of their lives.

Yes I'd like my kid do it. It's just a dance, kids wear less material for bathing suits these days.

And I'm saying that I don't necessarily see OMGSEXPANIC in everything. It's just a dance routine. I don't see it that way and it's fine if you do, but I don't. I'm just not that fussed and I don't read SEX!!!! into everything. I wore similar costumes for years vaulting (gymnastics on horseback, essentially) and in gymnastics. I promise, none of them made me horny or inspired me to go do a routine on a poll and make it rain.

I just...I don't personally think "OMG SEX" about any of it.

To me - the link I just posted is more appropriate & the kids are still clearly talented & it isn't inhibiting showing that. I am not bothered by how much skin is showing, thigh highs & lingerie look-a-likes (as in the other video I posted) do bother me.

If my kid was super into it, then yeah, I would allow them too.

It's your own problem if you choose to sexualize a 7-year-old. It's a dance, it's a costume, it's part of the competitive dance lifestyle.

I would prefer this 1000 times over beauty competitions. At least they are being judged on dance talent and aren't being psychologically smurfed for life by competing on whether or not they are what society deems as beautiful.
