I wonder if the girl in the middle is the captain. I can't keep my eyes off of her. She's very talented.
I guess I'm being a perve!

Yes.
It's not a lot different from the costumes ice skaters, gymnasts and swimmers wear. Idk, I'm not upset by the human body.

I used to dance when I was younger actually but it was nothing more than a hobby but dancer or not there is absolutely nothing "technical" about shaking your ass or opening your legs and dropping to the floor. Like I said any girl off the street could do those moves. Do I think they are talented dancers and very good, of course! Howver incorporating some moves which I have pointed out are not technical at all along with barely there clothes IMO is inappropriate and is sexualising and exploiting young children. I would not allow my child to be part of that.

Can you do it without pulling a muscle or hurting yourself?
It took me three years to be able to do it. So no, it's not something any girl can do.

I see girls younger than that do more provocative moves in ballroom dancing comps.

I don't understand why so many people are okay with their children dressing and behaving in provocative ways. Aren't parents supposed to protect the innocence of their children?
A talented choreographer should be able to display the abilities of the dancers without making an obvious effort to have a 7 year old look sexy.

My DD's won't be wearing that at 17, let alone 7!

See, it's sort of funny with topics like these. I didn't say to anyone "oh my god you smurfing prude, let her dance or she'll rebel and be a stripper!"
But, alas, of course, the hens come out with the passive aggressive mudslinging.

Can I shake my ass or open my legs and drop to the floor without pulling a muscle? Uhm yes I'm not sure what you guys call it but it is well known as the "slut drop" that as I said you'll find many girls doing in nightclubs up and down the UK on a Saturday night, like I said nothing particularly technical about that. Regardless they're sexualized moves inappropriate for a 7 year old to do whilst wearing hardly anything.

Exactly bit hey apparently it's just to be expected in dance so hey why don't we encourage all the kids. There is no reason their talent in dancing can't be displayed without feeling the need to sexualise it. I mean excuse me for having the opinion that I won't let my child be sexualized and exploited for "entertainment", what a stuck up prudish Mother I must be.

It's not about being upset about the human body; it's about whether or not you want your young daughter dancing in a sexual manner.

I was in dance and cheerleading for a decade and some of the stuff we wore and danced to was pretty risqué. Watching little girls now I'm like, whoa who thought that was a good idea. But I guess it's just kinda the norm. Shoot, when I was a teen I danced like a straight whore. My dance lessons taught me right!

I think they are amazing dancers, and even if they can technically do them, I wouldn't allow my daughter to do them on stage, or at the very least not with those types of clothes. It's over-sexualized in my opinion. I realize that if a pedo walked in there, he/or she would look at the kids that way regardless of what clothes they had on or what style they were dancing in. I don't know, maybe it's just my ultra-conservative viewpoint on children's clothing, but I mean..even if they weren't dancing I wouldn't let them wear a bathing suit and dance like that. Actually, I expect my girls to act like ladies, and that's not the type of dance I consider lady-like at all. I don't care if it's mainstream accepted technical dance moves. Just..nope. Sorry. The thought of my daughters thinking it's ok to dance like that makes me want to go hide them in a closet. They are babies, not even pre-teens.

It's not that bad, I'd say something to her instructor about the gyrating hips but the outfits are fine and the over all dance was great. When you have a child involved in something they love and that they excel at... outfits seem kind of trivial, and the moves are probably basic hip hop. It would still make me uncomfortable seeing my daughter do those moves so young though. Just changing the hip motion from back and forth to side to side would make all the difference.

Yeah i would if it was the costume for a performance. My mom had me in dance when i was 5-8. We wore something like that for our costume's. We had make up caked on us too.
