6 month old with cough/runny nose

My 6 month old has a bit of a cold. No fever just runny nose, cough, and a little sneezing. It sounds like she has drainage and mucous in the throat and is trying to cough it up. I cant give her cough medicine (or at least have not found any that is safe for a 6 month old to take) I gave her some infant cough tablets that I found at the store but they don't seem to be working. I try sucking out her throat and nose with a suction bulb but she has so much mucous that its not really doing any good. Im going to buy some baby vicks and a humidifier later today but are there any home remedies or medicine that is safe for her to take? I'm desperate because she hasn't been able to sleep and i can tell she is just exhausted, poor thing  

my 14 month old is going through this right now   it sucks .....do you have one of the booger sucker things ?? help her breathe through her nose.... if her nose is super stuffy like dried mucous up their you can try saline nose spray/drop helps loosen it up and sneeze to get it all out...but really there not much besides that you can do
