Are you bipolar?

Wondering how common hallucinations are in those with bipolar. My brother was just diagnosed, he's 28 and has a brain injury that caused severe mental and physical disabilities. He's hallucinated for years but because he's epileptic it was always attributed to either the meds or the epilepsy itself.

You can just answer the poll or if you'd like to give examples of things you saw/ heard/ thought that would be helpful as well.

Thank you

Ive had this explained to me by a psychiatrist before. There are so many versions of bipolar, and some people can be bipolar with schizophrenic tendencies, but not enough symptoms to qualify as schizophrenia.

That makes sense. When he's in the middle of an episode he thinks he's someone else and we are all other people and/or out to get him. It's really scary, I can only imagine how it feels for him.

I've heard this too. Also someone who has schizo can pass bipolar down apparently. My grandpa has schizophrenia and my mom has bipolar disorder, but as far as I know she doesn't hallucinate, but she probably wouldn't tell me if she did. He does, and it's really scary to be around him when it happens.

I'm like 90% sure my dad has bipolar, but he's never been diagnosed. He doesn't hallucinate.
I suspect that I may have bipolar tendencies also.

Depression definitely runs in my family. I had ppd after my last pregnancy and saw shadowy stuff, heard internal voices telling me basically that I was a horrible person and I had vivid visions of my baby getting hurt (not by me but witnessing it). That was horrible.

I'm diagnosed with Tourette's Syndrome, OCD, depression, and an anxiety disorder. Depression runs in my family too.

I have anxiety too, well kind of. I have trichotillomania which is considered a combo of anxiety/ OCD. My daughter does the same things I do (eyelash pulling) but I don't know if its learned it inherited for her.

Johanna hasn't shown anything that she's going to be like me, but the doctor says to expect it with the Tourette's.   It usually doesn't show up until at least 5. I was 10 when it showed up in me.

Mine started at 6, I cut off my eyelashes with plastic scissors because I told my mom they were bothering me lol! When Im anxious I get the urge to stroke my eyelashes, which leads me to pull but pulling leads to them hurting then I start actually pulling them out to find the one that hurts. It sucks, I've pulled so much that I had huge gaps in my eyelashes.

Aw, I'm sorry.   I used to pull my hair out, strand by strand. Thankfully the urge to do that went away after about a year or so.
