Thank you! This is exactly what I was looking for. I am in no rush for him to come, I do know that being induced means your more likely to have a c-section which is why I swore I would not no matter what but like I said I was told last week I would be having a c-section probably by today if he had not flipped back head down and he has which felt like a Godsend in itself. I'm going to give him every chance I can but by 40-41 weeks if he is still not here I will consider inducing no matter what anyones opinion is on the subject. Thank you for your story. I greatly appreciate it.

oh, and i was like 80 % effaced or something around there though. not dilated at all.

I was 1cm dilated when I was induced (39 weeks) with my son, it took about 10 hours, and my only complication was my contractions slowed once they took me off the meds, but started right back up as soon as they turned them on again. He was born healthy and is now a precocious 2 year old - talk to your ob, my one friend didn't go until after her due date, and my brother was a week late (because of the same issue), so I'm sure you'll end up fine. Good luck, and just remember an epidural is a great thing if it gets too bad ;)

Thank you very much! My dad is a doctor, so is my uncle (my dad was and E.R. doctor for 20 years and my uncle is a gyno) and I have talked to them and my doctor extensively about the induction subject and I am perfectly fine with it after he hits his due date. Both my sisters were induced and had fairly quick easy labors. My oldest had pitocin and said it hurt like hell but ended up with a very healthy, vaginally delivered boy after about 12 hours of labor. I just wanted to know how many women go from nothing to fully effaced or dialated in such a short time. Thanks again for your storyagain.

Thank you to for your story. I'm not worried at all about labor pain even if it rips me through hell and back again I want a vaginal delivery so bad I felt so stupid when they told me at my 38 week appointment he was breech and I would proably need a c-section. Like the world had ended. So induction may be a possibility coming up for now he still has some time. Thanks for sharing.

I was a fingertip dilated at 34 weeks and was still that way at 38 when they wanted to talk about induction for her size. I called to schedule the induction but went into labor my own that day. I progressed like a freaking turtle. After laboring for 12 hours at home, I had 12 hours of contractions every 6 minutes and I got to a three. 8 more hours got me to a six and I got an epidural. I stayed a six until they broke my water but that stretch of time was so manageable I could say I "enjoyed" it. They gave me pitocin later for about 45 minutes and she came shooting out just as the doc got in the room. So I didn't really have an induction but I did have intervention...? I guess? (: Started on my own but finished with help.

I didn't check to see what your thoughts on drugs were, but with my epi I was able to move my legs on my own and I could feel her coming and I still had to breathe and concentrate really hard through contractions (ESPECIALLY at the end). So it was more like it just sort of took the edge off instead of actually numbing me and I really loved how it ended up. I pushed for four cycles, one to learn how and three to get her out, about 15 minutes. I tore like a mofo which I contribute to the pitocin because they actually came in to turn it down because my body went into overdrive, contractions on top of each other and super strong, and they were really wanting the doctor to make it before my baby did. When I think of what I DID feel vs what I could have felt without the epi, I don't know if my husband would have survived the experience   So to any mamas planning inductions with no pain relief, or to those that have done it, you rock!

But the healing wasn't that bad, honestly. The thought of it has been worse than the experience. I realize you are about where I was when I had my baby right now ... my sort-of induction went well haha. If you want to try, go for it. I didn't want a C either!

Thanks for your story! 39 weeks today and I feel pretty dang good and just waiting for my next appointmen,t or if he wants to come on his own that would be wonderful even more so. I will for sure be having an epidural especially if I do decide to let them induce after next week, but even if I go into natural labor I plan on an epidural. Again, I just really appreciate the experiences shared, so thank you.
