Giving him the car?

So my tranny in my car went the other day, but thankfully my w2s came yesterday and I should get a nice fat refund, like 9k. I want to get a 2007 saturn aura.. with a payment, and just put like 2-3k down payment on it to get it...
Is it stupid to buy a used transmission ($500) for my old car an let bd have it (he knows how to put a tranny in) if he had a car, he could get to work with no problems, find a better job, and afford to help out more. I feel bad because he worked for 6 months in 2012 and his tax refund is only $175...
Part of me thinks its okay to help him out if he used the car properly, but then I have all kinds of worries and then I also worry that he'll wreck it, etc.. and I've had it pounded into my head growing up that a woman should never give a man money... lol I know, stupid, but it does have some truth to it...

So what you do think?

Has he said he'd help out before and then flaked on you?

Doesn't he live with you for free also?

Are y'all still together?

Maybe you could let him buy the car from you? That way he gets reliable transportation and you arent giving him money so to speak. Or do you just want him to borrow it to drive to work?

No he never flaked on me, he helps out with what he can, we just fight a lot.

He gives me like $150-$200 a month, he barely is making $400 a month at his current job, but a town away there's a lot of better jobs
but then I worry the car will break down again and I'm not fixing it again

No I want it out of my name incase he would wreck or something...

idk. that's a toughie. if he's pretty reliable, i think i would let him have it.

we put a used Tranny in our truck, it only had like 30K miles on it. never had a problem with it. it all depends on what you buy.

I'd give him the car for free, but make him get his own transmission.

We are getting 1k less than that and we have two kids so I doubt she's getting 9k also

I have one kid and only made 20k this year, I'm getting less than 5k. So I'm doubting it highly.

What's the secret to 9 op? Lol and if you do give him the car make him buy the new tranny

i say use the $9 grand and instead of gettung the saturn get two cheap cars one for you one for him sell your old car...
