Silk almond milk vs whole milk for 13 month old?

posted 25th Jan
My 13 month old has been drinking whole milk for about 4 weeks now. He has been very gassy and his tummy seems to bother him so I'm thinking he may have a lactose intolerance.

I bought a thing of silk almond milk to try out on him to see if its better for him. My question is- will he lose out on any nutritional values by drinking the almond milk rather than whole milk? I know the fat in whole milk is good for their brain development... Thanks!

Almond milk has tons of vitamins and nutrients! I give it to my son daily  . Maybe you could try lactaid and see if that helps his tummy.

We've got some chocolate almond milk in the fridge - it's got TONS of vitamins and boasts "50% more calcium than dairy milk". Not sure of the fat content, but really, he could get that elsewhere.

I give DD Almond Breeze No Sugar Added Almond milk because she has a lactose intolerance. I've tried lactose free milk but she doesn't like it.

It has more vitamins and has more calcium.

Ok thanks guys! I'll see how he likes it an if he becomes less gassy.. I noticed it has alot of nutritional value, but it does have less fat. I'm sure he can get that from other things though!

I'm a huuuuges cows milk junkie I love it lol but I'm lactose intolerant now and my lil 1 has bad excema which dairy irritates more, so instead of buying 3 kinds of milk, me an him drink almond, he's doing fine on his weight hasn't lost or gained he's 16 months now and going on 1 month since the switch,

Almond milk has tons of vitamins, but LO still needs the fatty proteins, but he can get them elsewhere, like avocado for example. Talk with his Pedi and get some suggestions for foods rich in fatty proteins. The fats are what is very important for brain growth and development, that's why they suggest whole milk for from 12 months to 2 years old.

Also, 4 weeks is still somewhat soon. It can take awhile for their little tummies to adjust. We had to do half formula half milk for awhile, then switch to 1/4 formula 3/4 milk, then eventually weaned him to all milk.
