Babies born between 36-38 weeks? And full-term?

posted 25th Jan
How did your babies develop? When did they reach certain milestones?

My son is 7 weeks old on Monday and I keep watching him for things. No smiles yet. But he holds his head up when I put him on my shoulder, still a little wobbly. I lay him on his tummy and he actually squirms and pushes himself across the mat. Also, I stand him up and he bears weight on his legs.

I just want to make sure he's not lacking extremely and what I should be watching for!

He's 7 weeks old... of course he is still wobbly. Do you do tummy time? my son was born at 36 weeks and smiled at 3 week... sat up at 14 weeks, but didn't crawl until 9 months. B

My middle son was born at 35-36 weeks. He developed right on track, meeting all milestones as if he was full term. He crawled and walked on the earlier side of normal.

He sounds good. My daughter was born at 38weeks, no issues. Look out for some cute little coos and ahhs soon. If I remember right, Isaiah was cooing at round 2-3 months. He only smiled when he farted

Sounds like he is on track to me
Colton will also be 7 weeks old on Monday.
He does smile a lot, but he was born at 39 weeks so that may make a difference?

All of my babies were born in that time frame, or right before(35-37 weeks, really) and they all developed pretty well. Smiles didn't start until they were a little older than 7 weeks, but they held their heads up like yours is, and they were doing what yours does on their tummy and when I stood them up. You are doing just fine, and it sounds like your son is, too.

Babies reach milestones at different times, don't stress over it unless his pedi is worried. My DS was born at 38 weeks, he turned sideways on the scale at his first doctor's visit (5 days old), and made all his milestones on time. He sat at 5-6 months, crawled 7 months, walked at 10 months.

My niece was born a couple of weeks early too and she is 13 months and can't walk yet, she didn't sit up until she was about 8 months. Kids are just different, yours is just a newborn, don't worry about it.

My son stopped growing at 35 wks, waters broke at 37 and he was born shortly after. He met milestones all within the expected time frame for normal term babies.

It varies a fair bit. My DS first 'talked' to me at 3 wks, smiled at the end of 5 weeks, rolled at 12 weeks but would get stuck on his tummy until he was closer to 5 months. He sat unassisted one night at 4 months and didn't do it again till he was 5.5 months.

Thanks to all you ladies!! I'm a first timer so I'm trying to figure out what to expect.

I get some little coo's when he's drinking and some "aaaaaaahh's" when he's fighting a sneeze. Plus, he can roll over from his side to his back. The last time we did tummy time, he was lifting one leg and one arm trying to flip over!

I'm glad to know he's right on track, though. With my nanny being in the hospital, I feel like I'm not spending enough time working with him and interacting with him.

My son was born 41+1 and smiled since birth but smiles in response to me playing with him daily and coos like crazy. I think it depends on the baby. My sil son did not smiled until like 3 months
