that's ridiculous. i don't think it should be up to the doctor at all about how long over due you go. your EDD is only an estimate anyway, after all. i think DD's was wrong. i went into pre labor by myself, so i'm sure she would have come on her own by the next week. i was basically pressured into getting induced. i had no idea i could say no.
i think the doctor should advise you on their knowledge, but not refuse you if you don't want to be induced.
sorry i didn't see that before... i didn't read all of this. lol

They cant force you to have an induction even if youre 43 weeks. You can always refuse a medical procedure. And most OBs wont drop a patient so late. It happens but its rare.

I went 4 days over due. Your due date is an estimate anyways I don't see why they won't let you go over 40w when there's no emergency. From early labour to finally having her it was about 60 hours. I had her almost 10 hours after they broke my water too. I think them not giving you a chance to go into labour on your own is stupid.

EDD's are just estimates. But it is a fact that after a certain point the placenta does start to age and with the mystery in the air I wouldn't go past 41w+ Anymore some women just don't go. And I definitely don't think that's going to be my case. But if it were I just feel like it'd end in a c-section. She said the baby's heart rate would drop at every contraction after the pitocin.

I know some woman personally who have needed the push of pitocin and then were taken off of it and their bodies labored naturally after...I don't know anyone besides woman on BG that needed a C-section due to induction. I'm sure it happens though...

With my induction with my 1st that's how they did it. I went in at 1cm and they started pitocin then after my water broke they took me off to see if my body would labor naturally and it did....

Congrats to your friends baby! How exciting

The placenta does eventually age, which is why they do weekly NSTs to make sure that everything is still functioning properly. So even that fear isnt a reason to induce before there is an actual problem.

I know it just scares me for my first I wanted a doctor and now getting towards the end I've almost completely hated the experience. I'm going to try a midwife/midwives for my next pregnancy which is hopefully not going to be for a while.

I am being induced for Gd, low fluids and baby pinching off nerves that can be permanently damaged. I was induced with my 1st and it did end in a C, BUT my dr was impatient and didnt give me pit right away. Tried cytotec which my body rejected ( tried 3x made me stay overnight for no reason was dilated to a 1 with spaced out contractions. Broke my water at 1 cm then made me lay in bed and forbid me to get out. Had to lay there for 2hrs
efore giving me a low dose of pit. Upped it a bit once then 2 hrs later said had to have a C. So my water was broke for 4 hrs. There was nothing wrong with me or baby.. My new dr is going to use a little pit and foley to open me up then let my body do its thing.

I thought they weren't supposed to induce after a c-sect? I guess you're doing a VBAC?   Good luck I hope it works out for the best, sorry to hear about the GD, and I'm not saying all end this way, I'm saying this is the 5th I know personally not including BG mama's. Here they're just rushy and scalpel happy. :/

There are certain meds like cytotec and cervidil that cant be used. There is 4 years between my last   I dont even worry about a uterine rupture. I am warning them ahead of time I will not just cave to things not needed or just get a C b/c Im progressing slower then textbook labor.
