Same here. I am a night owl normally and am about to have my little girl.

I do feed on demand. I've just been trying to have her up and have the lights on and get her active during the day and try to be quite and keep the house darker and us in our room at night... but really... she kind of just sleeps when she wants to anyway lol I've just been worrying myself about it. Guess I shouldn't be. I'm just glad to hear that maybe it's the people around me that are the weird ones and not me for wanting to go with the flow.

Babies make their own schedules. You can start molding one for them around the time they turn 1 but ideally, an infant should eat, play, poop, sleep, and snuggle on their own terms.

My daughter didn't get herself on a regular schedule until about 3 months. I just took what sleep I could get and went with what she needed when she needed it. Seems silly to me to wait to feed a hungry baby or put a tired one to sleep just because it's not time to.

Just keep doing what you're doing. As you'll get older her patterns and habits will get clearer and you'll be able to either set a schedule or continue to go with the flow.

My 7 month old has no schedule whatsoever. I had a rigid schedule with my first and while it was awesome to predict his needs, it was tough trying to plan my day around it. I have too much going on and not enough energy to concern myself with it this time around lol.

I guess it's just the first time mom thing... I second guess everything I do and I don't have very many good women role models to go to for advice around me.
I'm just kind of figuring it out as a I go.
 

Schedules are overrated. Never put any of my kids on a strict schedule and never regretted it. Naptimes were "In the morning" and "in the afternoon", fed on demand and as they have gotten older we eat when we are hungry. I like it, my kids weren't set on specific times so they were flexible which allowed me to be flexible. I'm not organized enough for schedules, 2 of mine are in school now and I can't tell you how many times we've missed the bus, LOL. It's always lost shoes, missing folders or hitting the snooze button one to many times, haha

None of my kids ever had schedules I let them sleep and eat whenever they want. They know that when the sun isn't up anymore they should be sleeping and they can get back out of bed when the sun comes up and if they are tired after lunch they know where their beds are lol

I think it is whatever works for u and your family! I how ever had a routine straight away and I found it help them recognise night from day and had a special time everyday for baths and things but that's how it worked for us!

You can't really put a baby that wakes up to eat every couple of hours on a schedule. I let my son do his own thing and he put.himself on a schedule at two months. He's three months now and for the past months he has slept all through the night and wakes you around 9-19 every morning, eats, plays for a few minutes, and goes back to sleep til around 1-2. Then He's up for a while.

At 4 weeks my baby would sleep from 12-6am.
At 6 weeks he started sleeping 12-8am
Now he's 3 months and he's an amazing sleeper.
12-10 or even 12 hours if he stays up with an active day.
But I cheat, I breast feed throughout the day and right before We go to sleep I pump, and give him more of the hind milk than fore milk so he will be more satisfied longer.
I believe in training your baby to a sleeping schedule, and sleeping in his crib.
So we both are energized when we wake and have lots of fun.


Have as much fun with your little one before he/she cuts his first tooth.
His/her attitude will change!!
