posted 25th Jan
eat there veggies????
my son is 4 (almost 5) and refuses to eat them so we made a new rule cuz i'm sick of fighting with him
if he eats the rest of his dinner and not the veggies he can stay up if not he has to go to bed and if he eats his veggies he gets a desert, seem fair???

I used to, but it never got me anywhere, she would just chew them up and hold them in her cheek and never swallow, so I just gave up. I didn't think the battle was worth it, tbh.

No, he doesn't have to eat everything on his plate. I do ask that he at least tries it, though. And if he doesn't like it, then oh well, he doesn't like it.

I don't have to make her. She loves them. At least for now. If she is refusing to eat something that I know she likes, I tell her to eat it. If she doesn't, then no snack. I don't make her go to bed, though.

my kid likes absolutely zero vegetables, and i wont make him eat any. it will just make him less likely to try them when he gets a little older. for now, we do vegetable/fruit juice, vitamins, and pedia sure.

Never use desert as a punishment i would say you sit at the table until youve eaten your veggies or give him his veggies first after hes eaten his veggies he gets the rest of his food just make sure its a small potion my mom made me eat a tablespoon of green beans and as i got older it went up to two and then three

They are pretty good about eating them anyways but on the times they refuse I make them eat a bite or two. Never the whole thing. The way I figure it is there are some thing I just plain don't like. For example I'm not a big lima bean fan so I don't make them. Maybe one of my kids just really doesn't like peas or corn or whatever, why force it? A bite is plenty and they eat quite healthy anyways so no biggie.

Yes, if it's on their plate, they need to eat at least the majority of it. They don't have to clean the plate but they need to eat at least 75%

My older kids only like a select few, middle broccoli and carrots, and my oldest green beans, and lo is a garbage disposal and eats whatever is in front of her.

So those are the only ones they eat, even then its only like one a week if that, minus the baby, she eats veggies every day.

I dont have "rules" about food. She eats or she doesn't. If she doesnt eat then she gets nothing else snack wise unless its something healthy like a fruit or veggie (she loves raw carrots) I dont send her to bed (unless a tantrum goes along with the refusal to eat due to her being overtired)
