ok so here is the picture (5 weeks 6 days)


the dr said there is indeed another pocket of fluid. (obviously)
you can see the start of a sac but its not a full circle like the other one and you cant see a fetal pole like in the other one. so she cant confirm or deny a twin pregnancy yet. so i am going in for another ultrasound on the 7th when things are a bit bigger.

what are your thoughts?

It very well could be twins, but it's hard to say until you're further along. Were you able to see any heartbeat(s)?

Ugh. Well, at 6 weeks we saw one baby...the dr came in and took pics, said something didnt look normal and that I should go home and wait to miscarry   I went in for ultrasounds every 2 weeks and the empty sac kept getting bigger but still no baby. They called it a "vanishing twin" and told me that sac would just go away. It didnt...instead it kept getting bigger and the fluid from the sac with the baby was lessening. At 12 weeks the baby had virtually no fluid and the empty sac had grown to be huge and filled with fluid. They scheduled a D&C for the following week, because we all know a fetus doesnt survive without fluid.

Week later before my D&C they wanted one last look....that empty sac was back down to its beginning size and the baby had ample amount of fluid. They called it a miracle and I have a healthy 2 year old today. Took another few weeks for that sac to fully disappear, but they are saying the only thing they can think is that the empty sac was getting bigger, preparing for a baby and just taking from the other baby. There is no for sure explanation. It was the craziest thing ever...there shouldve been twins, 2 eggs and 2 fetuses...and it just never happened that way.

Vanishing twins are kind of common, and that could be what you have. Or, the other baby could be just not as far along as the one you see in the U/S, so it wouldnt show up yet. Not sure! Keep us posted!

I know! We thought for sure we were going to lose her. They gave us ZERO hope.

When will you know more? Would you be excited to have twins?

Haha...we are TTC and everyone keeps saying, what if you have twins this time?! Dear lord. lol. I mean, we would feel blessed to have whatever we are given, but I might go nuts with 3 kids and twins. lol.

same here! i have 3! 2 more would be crazy!
