tubal ligation reversal?

posted 25th Jan
So, my husband talked me into getting my tubes tied after ds was born. We aren't in a position to have another baby right now. However, our situation will be changing. I feel like when it does id like to have another baby. He's agreeable so I asked my ob/gyn about it. He said hr feels that would be a great idea. (He says im his favorite patient lol). Im wondering what the likelihood would be that I could get pregnant after tubal reversal? My tubes are clamped. How hard would it be? Also, my last pregnancy was complicated. Would my next one be as well? I realize its always a possibility but how likely would it be? Im only 25, and want to know if we so choose that I could have another baby.

Why would you want to get permanent birth control when you aren't done having children?

I would go for the IUD or implant if I were you.

I think the clamping method is the easiest for reversal.

Good luck!

My husband said he didn't want more kids so I had it done. Now he says that he wouldn't mind more. I can't have an IUD. Had a Mirena that caused many problems including a miscarriage. My first was conceived while I was on birth control pills.

She already GOT it, and now she's asking about success rates for a reversal.

Since you're young and you went with the clamp, I've read that the success rates are pretty good. You are at a slightly higher risk for an ectopic though. Is IVF something you would consider? That's another option.

Sorry I misunderstood, I thought you were looking into getting it right now and wanting to know what you're chances of getting it reversed later were.

Lol happens :p

I can't believe a doctor actually did it in the first place, with you being so young and only having one child.

ETA: Nevermind, just noticed that you have 3. Still young though...

I had a tubal ligation 17 years ago when I was 22. It was after the birth of my twins which made me a mother of three kids under the age of 3. I got married to my second husband and had a tubal reversal March 4th, 2011. I had my DD Jan 2012 and currently 17 weeks pregnant with a baby boy. I am not sure the rates of pregnancy after the clips are removed. A lot would depend on the damage to the tube itself. Make sure you find a qualified doctor who can do the procedure. With my reversal they did a dye test after they were connected again to insure there was no leakage from the tubes. After a tubal reversal woman are at a higher risk for a tubal pregnancy and need to have an ultrasound as soon as they realize they are pregnant. My pregnancies with my ex husband were worse then my pregnancies with my 2nd husband. Every pregnancy is different.

I got pregnant with my daughter less the two months after my reversal. It shocked everyone including the doctor. I am just one of those woman who gets pregnant just being in the same room as their husbands. It usually takes a few months to get pregnant. A lot depends on your cycles and how good you ovulate. I also tend to ovulate two eggs which increases my odds. I have been pregnant with twins twice. With my last twin pregnancy I lost one of my twins at 11 weeks so I only have one set of twins. This pregnancy they only found one baby which was a relief since my daughter just turned one Jan 4th

Congratulations Karen! I am so moved by your story! I am calling around today for quotes on reversals. I already got one quote and after anestesia and the surgery I am looking at about $12000.   Hopefully I can find it more reasonable by calling around. Any suggestions or referrals? I live in California and even thought about possibly traveling to get it done. I am not necessarily looking for the cheapest but the best chances and a Dr with a decent reputation. How long did it take for you to recover or were you able to bounce right back? I know when I got my tubes clamped it took me about 3 days before I could really walk around without being in massive pain eek it sucked
