Does your baby 5-6 months take more then one nap daily?I am

My daughter is about to be 6 months old. She sometimes wakes up4 times to eat in the middle of the night. Sometimes twice.. I let her nap during the day whenever she is tired. I think this is most likely my problem because I let her make her own schedule. I thought babies should sleep when they are tired?Plus I do not know how to keep her awake. I started giving her baby cereal around 4 months thinking it would help her sleep through the night. Now she eats baby food and still does not h elp. The dr told me to stop feeding her at night because she will keep waking up at night out of habit.. any suggestions?

Also play with her to keep her up during the day obviously if she tired let her sleep but sometimes they sleep when theyre bored so if you try a little entertainment she may stay up a bit more DD is 7months take two naps around 1-2 hours each for me at daycare she may nap 2hours the whole day

My dd napped a lot till about 5.5 months then for a few weeks she went to two naps then at 6.5 months or so she decided to nap once a day from 12-4pm and is now 11.5 months and still naps 12-4pm.

Play with her and keep her up maybe 4 hr stretches then put her down for a nap, then after another 4 hrs of being awake put her down again.

My dd's scheduale was up for 4 hrs then down for 4 then up for 4 then down for the whole night. Although she always slept through the night since 7 days old.

The best resource for us regarding sleep was the book Healtny Sleep Habits, Happy Child by Weissbluth.
According to Weissbluth, the more common and "natural" cycle for a n infant over 5 months is bedtime sleep between 7pm and 7 am. Then a morning nap around 9:30ish for an hour.
Then a nap 12:30/1ish for an hour and then a nap at around 4:30ish thatbisnshorter.
He also said that it is normal for SOME babies to wak at night after 3-4 hours due to being hungry.

In my experience he was 100% correct. My LO was a terrible napper and sleeper until i read his book. Then, things came together. He gives good tips for helping get an overtired baby into a better pattern. They work!

An issue that my LO had was that she never drank more than about 4 ounces at bedtime. That didn't hold her for very long. It wasn't until we started takingnhervbottle away that she drank a full 8 ounces. After not seeing her bottle all day,p, she sucked down a full one before bed. It was great!

Also, if your baby is waking every 2 hours, she probably isn't waking for food but just out of habit. She hasn't learned tomputnherself back to sleep.

I highly suggest getting the book from the library. It helped me the most during her infancy.

I bought that book when I was desperate to fix LO's sleeping habits at night. I also go the 90 minute sleep cycle I read that one. I have yet to read the happy baby healthy sleep habits yet. LO sleeps great now but I want to read that book also still.
