I've seen this on my news feed countless times now. People are freaking out saying how they'd rather live in Switzerland if they can't have their guns. The people who are posting all of this on facebook are hardcore republicans.
Quoting May ♥:" Right.. Just like how people were gonna move to Canada because Obama won a second term..."
I think it's funny because the people posting it are also bitching about universal health care and welfare. They're also the people who want to jump right into wars.

Not saying it has happened yet, however if Obama or any politician tried to go the way of Canada and Australia with gun laws and therefore revoking our 2nd amendment rights there would be an uproar of monumental porportions. And if they actually did revoke them some wealthier people would definitely flee.
Switzerland doesn't have the lowest crime rate in the world, and it also ranks 3rd in the world for number of guns per capita behind the U.S. and Yemen.
There is also almost compulsory military service for all men between 20 and 30 years old, and at the end of that service they are able to keep their guns, but they all become self-loading instead of automatic.
To carry a gun in public, they still need a permit and that is usually only issued to people doing private security or other jobs that require guns.
I'm all for gun rights and agianst the government taking that away. But I try to only post things about it that I know alot about and I really don't know much about Switzerland.

I think it's a lot of predictable knee-jerk reaction to a tragedy. Unfortunately, the real issue of mental illness isn't being addressed.
Also, only 2% of gun deaths are from the controversial guns. This is no time to make decisions about solutions as emotions are too high.
