#2 on the potty......
posted 25th Jan
My 20 month old does well with peeing on the potty. Rarely for the past 5 days she has had maybe 4 pee accidents. As for pooping how long can I expect it to take to get her to do it in the potty. I make a big deal when she does it in her panties. I show her where she is supposed to so it. As well she knows when she has done it and she gets up from her crouching position very slowly saying "uh oh".
How long did it take for your LO's?
As well she wanted to start peeing on the potty so I'm going with what she wants. So I don't want comments that she may be too young yet.

What do you mean you make a big deal about her going in her pants?

Just because she's ready to pee on the potty doesn't mean she's ready to poop though.
I wouldn't make a big deal about her pooping in her underwear, you could make her feel embarrassed and she may regress.

I tell her we don't poop In our big girl panties and show her where it goes. I don't fly down her throat for it I just explain it. She is very advanced for her age I have raised both my kids from little on explaining things that's just the way Iam.

She doesn't like anything gross on her hands or anything like that so I'm trying to make it out to be a gross thing so she will stop doing it. She is very particular with dirty hands and face at her age already. So I don't see any harm in making it out to be gross cause it actually is.

Have you tried putting her on the potty when you know she's going? We just potty trained our 2 year old and that's what helped her. We praised her a lot and that helped also. Don't punish her tough because she will regress.

Every child is different so I can't really give you an estimate time that she will be pooping in the potty. I potty train kids at work and some do great going pee but pooping takes some time. Just continue doing what you are doing and explaining and showing here where her poop is suppose to go and eventually she will start doing it.

Also I have had kids try to hide when they were pooping, maybe watch for signs that you know she is going and run her to the toilet.

My son was fully potty trained in 3 days.
However, it varies by child. I'd just continue to do what you're doing. Encourage her and explain to her, she'll pick it up. Good luck!

I don't punish her tough I explain. I will try that though and see if it works.
What she does is she normally crouches down to play and then she poops as well. So I will have to pay more attention to that squatting position. I know she will get it eventually . Thanks everyone!
