3 1/2 walks on tippy toes...

posted 25th Jan
My DH and I have noticed that unless our 3 year old dd has shoes on she walks on her tip toes. Tonight we asked her to walk flat, and she would but only for a couple steps. It seemed like she's almost forgotten how to walk naturally! What should I do? Should I take her to her Pediatrician?

My cousin did that until he was like 7. He's 11 now and walks just fine.

Keep encouraging her to do it. The PT where I work said it can actually make their calf muscles grow shorter and it will someday be painful to walk normal. It snot like dyer right now but remind and encourage as much as possible.

I also do quite a bit because I have high arches on my feet and walking flat is painful without shoes.

This is what worries us. She has other health issues. And it really seems like she's forgetting how to walk naturally.

We have a 4 yr old in our class that does it and the dr didn't do anything. Just remind her. So don't freak out but do encourage her to walk flat any time u catch her.

I have killer legs...

I was in pegeantry, flags and drill, we used to march with the band, it hurt to walk heel toe my 1st year, so my 2nd year till I graduated I changed the stepping for us to toe, heel... looked better and raised our difficulty   lol

Anyways I went to school for fash design, and they had girls in classes paying to be taught how to walk like me...

My niece and nephew both walk on their tippy toes still and they are 11.5 yrs old and 13.5 yrs old.

They have always done it, they can walk normal as well, but they often do it when extremely excited.

She only walks on her tip toes. When she has shoes on she sometimes walks flat foot. She says it hurts "inside" her arches to walk natural.

My lo cousin, now 11.5 yrs old, actually complained of foot pain when walking flat on her feet and in shoes and skates etc...her foot bone is growing out and needs to be shaved down in a few surgeries.

may not be the samething at all. tho.

Its really uncomfortable to walk *heel toe* when I'm barefoot I walk on tip toes, when I walk flat foot I can only wear sandals because my foot still has room to move around, I can only wear skate shoes if I *have to* wear tenis shoes because they are big enough where I can move my foot around...
