my oldest was a 31 weeker. He had to have an IV and be fed through a tube for a few days. He had to get the sucking and swallowing down. He was 4lbs when he was born.

i have a 17 day old 32 weeker. he was 4 lbs 13.4 oz at birth, he spent 13 days in the nicu, he had an iv for fluids and antibiotics as a precaution for a few days and was tube fed while he was learning how to eat all his feedings from a bottle, and a little jaundice, he came out perfectly healthy. they told me he could have breathing problems, or problems maintaining his body temp, but he did great...good luck to you!

i dont know how your hospital is, but i breastfeed and while i was in the hospital they gave me a pump and i just took them my milk and even before he was eating from a bottle they put it in their machine to feed him through the tube and once i went home i just continued to pump and take them my milk

I had my twins at 33 weeks. Both of the were on CPAP...one was only on it for an hour and the other had to stay on it for a few days. My babies were in NICU for a month and a half. My son came home with me after a month and my daughter had to stay there for a couple weeks after him. It was pretty hard on me leaving them up there...I wanted to breast feed since it's better for preemies and I heard they go home faster than babies that are fed formula. So, everytime I had the chance to get up there I would breast feed so they would learn to suck and I pumped every three hours to keep up my milk. Which the first two weeks are crucial to keep that schedule so your milk supply will stay up. It's best not to stress even though it's a stressful time just know that your baby is being taken care of even when your not there. Which l, I know it's easier said then done...but hang in there! Your baby will be out soon enough!

Thanks ladies! I got to come home yesterday on strict bedrest and BP meds. I see my OB tomorrow morning and am praying all is well and I don't end up back in there.
