Could you elaborate? Do you mean medications for pain management during labor? Medications to start labor??

The only medications I had during my labor were pitocin and an epidural.

They don't offer gas here which sucks because that smurf is awesome. lol

OP- I do not suggest using Nubain/Demoral or any other IV pain med. Either go for the epidural or go drug free. Anything else just makes you feel like smurf.

Honestly, every labor is different, and every person is different. If I can suggest anything it would be if you are really trying to hold off on getting medications, do not to make a decision during a contraction bc you are more vulnerable that way. Having realistic ideas of labor is smart. It's not easy so expect it to hurt and expect it to take time. Your physician/midwife and anesthesiologist will discuss your options for pain relief and offer suggestions based on your individual needs. Some people are fine with no meds, some are ok with IV meds, and others go for the epi. It's all based on YOUR needs so our suggestions now really won't do much, IMO.

epidural... and it goes much better if you get it before the contractions are so bad you can't sit still for it to be placed.

e with epidural or drug free. Everyone i know that had the IV meds like stadol and such dont have good stories to tell. Makes you feel drunk and my one friend that got stadol doesnt even remember her labor adn was very out of it after the baby was born. I didnt want an epidural but i was induced and i caved in and got one..i would recommend that! Nevt time i hope to do it natural but if i can't i would def get another epidural.

educating herself about options now instead of waiting until she's in labor is actually MUCH more intelligent.

I never got the impression my daughter was drugged. She came out alert and very responsive but I have heard of that happening.
