re: "80% were expected to be under age 20"

Wow.

Well I wouldn't say brainwashed but definitely not exposed to the reality of life and its not so picture perfect glory. Every pro-life adult I know around my age is pro-life because they come from a very privileged, under exposed and Christian lifestyle. That is what I would imagine 80% of those protesters are, they have no idea what it is like outside their world and that abortion is not an easy option.

That's a good point. Most do follow what their family tells them or does themselves. My family never really talked about religion, pro-life, pro-choice and what not. Good and a bad thing as I also didn't get sex talk until I was moving in with my now husband at the age of 24.

That was YOUR decision though. At least the option was there. Being pro-life means you dont want anyone to have that choice.

Quoting Back to Noob Status:" I think anyone who takes a prolife stance is brainwashed, regardless of their age."

Everybody I know who is prolife has an extremely emotionally charged PERSONAL story as to why they are pro-life. They never think in terms of all women from all different situations.

I know more people that are against abortion sans religion than I know people who are pro life BECAUSE of their religion.

The actual act of abortion can be a solid reason to be pro life, religion or no.

I would be very interested to see the source material you used for that paper during high school. There is a lot of misinformation out there about abortion.

What personal stories?

It really depends on the person. Some people at age 20 are quite mature and are fully capable of understanding and making their own choices, while others might as well be smurfing 12.

I'm 19 & I fully have a grasp on the situation & options. I personally could never get an abortion. But that's just me. Parenting is not for everyone, I get that. Therefor, I would never judge someone for choosing to have an abortion.

Agreed.
See, the ones I know are prolife because of religion (and believe it is murder though I don't think the bible even mentions abortion) and usually are the same people who don't give a crap about the kid after it is born. Prolife? More like probirth. But that's a whole different topic...

For example, one of my friends is pro-life because she suffers from infertitlity and was never able to carry a child herself. Another is prolife because she made the choice not to abort her severely disabled son whom died a short time after birth.

I think you can be a teenager and still have fully thought out and well developed opinions.

But truthfully, when I was a young teen and pro-life I had a "me centered" approach. It was all about how *I* felt and what *I* wanted to do and how *I* thought the "babies" were too precious to be aborted...I'm so glad I grew out of the phase quick.

Those are silly reasons to be prolife, imo.

And at 25, I became very pro-life because of my miscarriage. It made me sick thinking of all those babies being aborted. However... as I matured, I realized that the option NEEDS to be there for people. I couldn't let my personal judgement or emotions cloud my views that effected everyone... not just me.
