how much to feed at one month?

posted 25th Jan
just out of nowhere ive been able to pump out 3-4oz (rather than 1 1/2-2oz) no problem and my son has been hungry ALL the time. like at 7am he had 2oz of breast milk and then at 8 he was still hungry and had 2 oz of formula annnd then again around 9-9:30ish he was STILL hungry so i breastfed him for almost a half hour until he fell asleep. i tried looking up how much he should be eating because it sounds like hes going through a growth spurt. some people say no more than 4oz within 2-3hrs and other say their baby is taking down 7oz. i dont want to over feed him and have him throw up like he did last week, but i want to make sure hes getting enough. crazy how time has flown by, i still remember when newborn stuff was big on him =/ now it hardly fits.

He should be eating as much as he wants. Breast milk digests much more quickly than formula so its normal for him to want to drink so often.

feed baby what he wants. don't bother with charts. baby knows what baby need. They dont' over eat ( it's rare) and if baby does, dont' worry baby will just spit it up.

Every baby is different. When DD was a month old she was taking 4oz of formula every 3 hours. Breast milk is different though

I know formula is different but DS was drinking 4oz of formula every 2-3 hours at a month old. Breastmilk digests faster. He is probably going through a growth spurt. But feed baby what baby wants. It is EXTREMELY rare to overfeed a baby. They will stop eating when they're full.

At 7 weeks, my son was downing 4- 2 oz. Bottles of breast milk at daycare, so that amount in 8 to 10 hours.

every baby is different...feed him whenever he is hungry. As long as he eats it and doesnt spit it back up then its not too much. My daughter was on formula and ate 4 oz every 3 hours when she was 1 month

You can't overfeed a breastfed baby, they nurse for a lot more than basic nutrition   My son nursed hourly for a long time, i have no idea how much because he never had a bottle.
