which cloth diapers do you prefer?

SO said I could get some this week! A friend gave us some that her son grew out of and SO realized they aren't as bad as he thought they would be. So now he said I could get some and I don't know which brand works best. The ones my friend gave are good but my son pee's up a storm and while he's sleeping, I don't want to wake him up to change a diaper y'know? so he pee's through them really fast, then I have to change his onesie too. I was thinking about looking into the flips brand with the water proof liner on the inside so you can wipe out and reuse the cover and the pee wont leak through the cover.

What brands work best for your babies? Do you prefer the one sizes that grow with the baby or do you prefer the sized diapers? The covers I have grow with the baby and right now they are super huge and bulky on him, I don't know if it's just the cover or if all of them are bulky like that?

We use Alvas and they work awesome! All one size. He's 9 months and still has plenty of time left in them.

we have Kawaii baby brand. They come with 2 inserts which was perfect for my super peer child. I got them from www.theluvyourbaby.com I got snaps, not velcro because they don't wash well.

I use pocket nappies, with one bamboo and one charcoal insert, my DD is a serial heavy wetter and we get aloong great with these inthe daytime, at night we use Little Lambs - shaped terry/bamboo nappies with an outer cover.

Also if you are having lots of leaks it might be worth stripping out your nappies, If you wash them with a dishwasher tablet and then run an extra rinse cycle you will strip out any extra soap from them, Have you looked at how best to wash them? I didnt take a hug amount of notice of their proper care in the beginig and i was constamtly complaining of leaks until somone explained how to wash them properly!

depends on you and your child really. don't' get a whole stash of one brand/type until you see what works. I HATE kawaii diapers. i love pockets, like pre-folds with covers and hate all in ones ( AIO's). I love the bububibi( bububibi.com) pocket diapers( about 10 bucks a diaper) I also have a few of their covers ( 6ish bucks a cover). I'm waiting on my alva order, but I hear good things about them.
I have a few flips and I dont' care for them after less than 6 months the leg elastic is relaxing. And I find the bum genius brand to run a little small. But I have a large toddler. she is 20 months, 31 pounds and 35 inches tall. it's hard to get a good fit on her with that brand.

Gro-Via hybrid all in two's. This was my first attempt at CD'ing and they just made the switch so easy.

For newborns we like fitteds and covers. Specifically we like Squishy Butt's (mother on BG) and bamboo Motherease Sandies fitteds. Bamboo absorbs more then cotton, and can take more to dry.

When newborn size no longer fits we switch to one-size fitteds, covers, and pockets. We go with Mothease bamboo one-size fitteds and lately alva baby bamboo pockets.The covers are also motherease brand. I like pockets because you can stuff with more then one reusable insert depending on absorption needs.

I might not have washed them correctly   I threw them in the wash 4 times then dried them like it said on the package, but I might not have washed them in the correct temp water.. I'm not sure, I'll have to look farther into it.

I do mine with 1/4 the washing liquid i would normally use NO softener then do an extra rinse i usually wash nappies at 40 or 60 degrees, Its quite a science i have found that if i dont do that extra rinse they do leak

I prefer wahm made fitteds - specifically bamboo and wind pro fleece, with covers and I also love prefolds but I own alot of pockets with neat prints too

I still have all of my Fuzzibunz pockets for sale. DH liked those better than any others we had, because they were the easiest for him to put on.
