Softcup

posted 25th Jan
Anyone have problems with it?

This is my 2nd time using Softcups for menstrual purposes. (I've used it for TTC as well) and everything seemed fine the first time I used it for my period. I had some discomfort when inserting it (I have scar tissue..) and after awhile it seem to "find it's place". I was woke up by some pretty intense abdomin pain so I undressed and kneed down into the shower and pulled out the Softcup. when I did blood literally "poured" out of me for a good 3-5 seconds..I swear I felt like someone had taken a knife to me as much blood kept coming out..   I kneed in the shower for a good 5-10 minutes and washed myself with soap and water..no more pains but now I am still in intense pain..not your usual period cramps but it feels like someone drop kicked the lower part of my uterus..

is it possible the Softcup was positioned wrong or what? I don't think I'll be using them the remainder of my period..

no problems. If blood was pouring out.. how long had it been in?

it holds the blood in... yes, they say you can wear them up to 12 hours.. but you have to find what works for you. You generally wear them for twice as long as you would a tampon... so it depends on your flow.

I used to wear them 12 hours.. after my last child my flow increased a LOT. now I have to change them every 4 hours or so.

make sure you slide it in parallel to the floor so it's angled right. Don't tilt it upwards like you do a tampon.

That's how it is on my heavy day of my period and I have been using softcucps forever. It's just a really heavy day for me. (Probably because I have Paragard)...

If that much blood loss isn't normal, call your doctor. But another question is how long have you had it in?

It has to sit all the way around your cervix. If you push it in straight up, that would irritate your cervix I would imagine!

remember though you're used to seeing the blood absorbed in cotton. Now you're seeing it in liquid form... so it'll look worse.

it's like when a baby spits up.. it always looks like more than it is.
