I was schedule to go in today to get induced, however my LO had other plans. Yesterday morning I started having what I thought were BH. My stomach would tighten and loosen without pain. However around noon I started to feel what I believed were real contractions. Around 2:30 pm I went to lay in bed to see if I could time them. They seemed about 5 minutes apart. I was considering going in to L & D but I had not been officially timing for more than twenty minutes. I thought if I changed positions it would help. So I swung my legs over the bed and at that moment my water broke.
SO was setting nearby and I said "My water just broke!" He doubted me, so I stood up as water gushed down my leg. He then jumped up and started getting the things we needed gathered so we could head to the hospital. In route I called my family, SO's family, and text my friends to share the happy news.
When I got to the hospital I was dilated 4 cm and about 90% effaced. Things moved on very quickly from there. I tried to hold off on any pain meds as long as I could, but in the end I just couldn't handle the pain. So I opted for an epidural when I was about 7 cm dilated.. However my epidural was not as good as I thought it would be. I had what they called "a window" which was on my left lower side where the medicine didn't reach. They tried rolling me on my side and I got sick. SO was with me the whole time and was able to help through this rough patch.
Anyway the labor conditioned to progress rather quickly. I really have no idea how mothers go through labor naturally but I applaud them. Even with my epidural it was still extremely painful to me however I have a very low tolerates for pain.
So after pushing for about 20 minutes I was handed my little bundle of joy while SO got to cut the core. She was perfectly healthy weighting in at 8 lbs 15 ozs measuring 21 1/2 inches long.
