School and Urgent Care

posted 25th Jan
Today was the first day of one of my classes. I got an email from my professor last week that said that there is absolutely no excuse to miss the first day of class and if we do, he will drop us from the class. Well guess what?! 15 minutes before class starts, I get a call from my mom. She says that my daughter had falled and cut her lip open but she didn't know if it was bad enough to bring her in. I told her that she is the only one right now who could make that decision, so she needed to make it and let me know now. So it was decided to bring her in, and since her father isn't around, I'm the only one who can. I met them at urgent care and her cut on her lip did look pretty deep. So after waiting there for 2 hours, we were seen and she was given 2 stitches in her little lip. My poor baby! She didn't cry or anything though. Now, hopefully I just don't get dropped from my class. I emailed the professor and explained what happened. We will see. Just had to tell someone about my evening.

he sounds like a smurffy teacher... he shouldnt drop you. take in a signed paper proving you were there with LO.. if he still trys to drop you go to upper management (counselor, headmaster, anyone above him that can help)

She is doing really good! She was mad she had to get stitches, she kept saying she didn't want them. Nobody told her the doc was going to do them. They just had her lay down, covered her face with towels and I held her hands and a nurse held her head and the doc did it. They numbed her lip prior to doing it. When we got home I gave her a toy that was in the closet, I forgot to put it under the tree for Christmas so I was saving it for a day when she was really good.

Why couldn't your mom take her in? My mom has taken my kids in to be seen before.

I had her insurance card on me and they won't see you unless you have it, unless it is a life threatening thing.

where are you going (i saw you live in Cali too)

but fight it.. just prepared for it to piss him off.. most professors dont like it when they kick someone out but the admin says they can stay.. just keep copies of EVERY paper incase he tries being a jerk and failing you just cause he has issues.
(this happened to me in Maine. i didnt get credit for the class cause i didnt keep copies   the teacher was mad i had to take DS to the er the first day. his was for vomiting though)

That's really weird. I work in urgent care. We can look up an account and we can look up most insurance coverages online. People come in all the time without insurance cards and it's never a problem.

Oh really? I called her doc to ask whether they would even be able to do anything before we made the decision to bring her in and they told me that I would have to bring her in.

im Sorry! dont be worried.. just talk to the admin and the teacher and explain everything.. and just to be safe keep all your papers.. tech you should do it for ALL your classes just in case someone messes up.. it doesnt hurt to be safe.

You won't get dropped.

That's a pretty standard thing teachers say to scare lazy students. It's not intended for actual emergencies.
