Primrose Oil...??

Has anyones doctor ever told them to take Primrose Oil to soften the cervix and hopefully get you more ready for labor? My doc just told me if I wanted to start taking it around 37 weeks to maybe help things along I could. Anybody know anything about this?

I've heard of this, but you don't take it orally, you insert it up your vjay jay  to soften the cervix, me I never bothered about it lol I just waited till i was induced and mr. came out

Well, you actually can take it orally and also you can insert it into the "vjay jay"..lol   But, my doc is going to induce me anyways because my first baby was 9lbs 6oz and I hemorrhaged afterwards. She doesn't want me to go full-term because she's afraid of the hemorrhage again and because my baby is going to definitely be another big one!

My midwife suggested Evening Primrose Oil Capsules (orally) when I was overdue by a few days. I'm not sure if it helped any, since I was already overdue... I did go into labor only 2 days after taking my first dose. I think it is probably one of the safest things to try, possibly? Not as extreme as Castor Oil, which causeshorrible diahrrea, causing your bowel to empty-which in return makes your uterus to empty. Who wants to be in more pain/discomfort than we have to be?

My midwife told me to sitck it in my vagina at 38 weeks because they wanted to get my cervix to soften so i could be induced...it barely worked..i only took it for a week though...i think with my next baby i will start taking it at 37 weeks...

I used it 2 weeks before i went into labor everyday. I think it helped me progress. I dilated fast once I started and I think it was because of the EPO. I had my baby at 39 weeks and 1 day.
