Randomly overheating?

posted 25th Jan
I had a weird thing happen today that I really can't explain. I randomly overheated (like really badly), started shaking, and I thought maybe I would pass out. I've had weird attacks like this before, but when I mentioned it to the doctor, she kinda laughed at me and said that I was too young for hot flashes   I don't think that's what it was, but it was a really scary feeling...anyone have this happen before that could maybe shed some light on what it was?

If it helps, all I was doing when it happened was sitting on the couch writing on a piece of paper. Also, my husband suggested it might be a panic attack or an anxiety attack, but I've had those before and it definitely wasn't either of those.

I had a LOT of hot flashes when I was pregnant with DD1. Even in freezing cold outside it would just come over me.

Did they make you shaky and feel like you were going to pass out? I was on Google and keep coming up with Hypoglycemia, but that doesn't make sense because the doctor said my blood sugar was high when I went in last

I don't recall any shakiness. But at times I did feel faint.

I had some really horrible panic attacks in 2008 that got so bad, I actually sought out medication (I'd never even entertained the idea of meds before).

It would start with my heart racing & feeling sweaty --- I'd feel like I couldn't breathe or couldn't catch my breath. I was somewhat aware of what my body was doing inside my head, but it felt like I didn't have control of myself or my reactions. I would feel light-headed, dizzy or like there were bubbles in my teeth & lips. I would cry uncontrollably at times. Not every attack was like the last. Some times the symptoms varied, sometimes I got them all.

I would seriously talk to your doctor about your concerns if it keeps happening. If it is a panic attack, there are some good meds you can try. I was on Paxil for a year & weaned off of it successfully. I've had no need for it since. If your doctor laughs it off, maybe you should find another doctor. I wouldn't risk not being taken seriously.

Yeah, I have since switched PCM's but I haven't brought this up because I'm afraid of not being taken seriously again. I will bring it up, though.

Definitely bring it up again. If not taken seriously, I would get a second opinion.

Good. No one should have any concerned laughed off. Good luck to you, lil mama & congrats! You're almost there!

I plan on it. My next doctor's appointment is in a week, so I will bring it up then.
