She only had it for bed and nap by 9 months and 100% off by 10.5 months. She will be 1 on Saturday *tear* and all the bottles are gone. I waited until almost 2 with my oldest and it was pure hell. Im so glad I didnt wait this time.

We had DD off the bottle at 12 and a half months. We ditched the pacifiers at 13 months. It can seriously damage their teeth to let them have bottles past that point...

Bottles are for babies cause babies cant use cups. Your son is a big boy now, get him to use a cup, he doesnt need the bottle.

Although I dont believe there is any 'harm' in a bottle, I find it useless. The longer you wait, the bigger a battle it will become.

I would say at a year I would only use it for milk before bed/nap not during the day and absolutely no juice in it.

As long as its gone completely by 18 months I don't see an issue.

I'd compromise just knowing how long babies are designed to breastfeed and suckle for, it does seem cruel to remove it when they're still so little. It's not like nature suddenly got the memo about formula lol, they are designed to suckle. I know the milk is different but the need is often still there. I wouldn't hurry an 11 month old off a bottle. My son got more into solids at 14 months and i can see how toddlers would be more able to reduce of the bottle in their second year. I'd be aware of his oral health and continue the bottle as long as he craves it. It's likely his nutritional needs can be met with solids over the following months and as he gets older he'll be able to get comfort from other things. I'd stick to being sensitive to your LO's needs and doing what you feel is best, his doctor doesn't know him like you do.

This!

If I ever had a bottlefed baby, I would let him self wean from the bottle.
For me the child's need to suckle supersedes any potential damage to the teeth.

My oldest was 11 months when they went in the trash and DDs will be in the trash as soon as she can drink out of a cup

This is how you end up fighting a 5 year old for a week of straight tantrums and no sleep.

I would let them self wean, so I wouldn't have that issue.
