It can be either, but as a name I would pronounce it lee-ah. If you like the 3 letter version, I might suggest Lia to make it more clear. I love the name, though.

Lea goes back in my family over 80 years and it's pronounced Lee. I want to incorporate Lea into my daughters name, but I hate when people pronounce it Lee-uh >_<
