Being induced Monday with cytodec...

At 41 weeks 2 days. Excited but nervous. Anyone have experience with Cytodec? Just want to know what to expect and have my nerves calmed.

Tell them not to induce you with cytotec. It is extremely dangerous! Ask for a foley bulb or cervadil.

I had it. The dr told me the cytotec didn't induce labor just ripens the cervix and makes it progress a bit better...

Bs I had it at 7pm and at 9pm I had contractions 3 mins apart instantly and I started to bleed really bad. I ended up with an emergency csection like 16 hours later for a placental abruption. While I don't think the cytotec caused the abruption I dot think I'd allow them to do it again with the cytotec.

That drug is used for stillborns. Refuse that! You can refuse and ask for them to use something else.

Do not let them give you Cytotec! Cytotec is an ulcer medication, and is NOT approved or indicated for use in labor inductions. Hospitals use it because it's cheap.

If you need the induction, press to have them use Cervadil instead. Cervadil IS FDA approved for inductions.

I was given Cytotec and was told I had no other choice because of my insurance (medicaid)..so I went with it.
They inserted it at 10pm, I was already 2cm. By 7am I was still exactly the same and they broke my water. The cytotec did absolutely nothing for me whatsoever. I wouldn't recommend it. If you have a choice, choose something else.

I ended up needing an emergency c-section as well but I doubt it was because of the cytotec. Being induced all together has a higher c-section rate.

DO NOT let them use Cytotec. It is REALLY bad, ask for Cervidil instead.

Tell them absolutely not. They tried to give me that. When I refused they tried just pitocin. When that didn't work an intern suggested a foley bulb which I accepted. You have to be a tiny bit dialated for it though.

i had cytotec and the foley bulb. only made it to 5cm and 70% but i was also only 34 weeks

Well Cervadil didn't do smurf for me anyways. You will more than likely need pitocin anyways. I would rather have pitocin vs. Cytotec. Pitocin is a lot safer than Cytotec.

I'd take the pit over cytotec if I had no other choice. Cytotec has been known to be super dangerous... and I believe I heard on the business of being born that it was even banned in some hospitals.
