Red, Tender, Warm Breast

Okay this may seem like an odd question but has anyone else had there breast turn really red almost purple at time in a perfect circle from the nipple to about 3 inches out its really tender and warm almost feverish to the touch? I'm not sure what this is and would appreciate any oppinions.

It could be Mastitis or a plugged/blocked duct!

my only thing that i cant find on other things is its both breast

its probally a clogged duct. try putting warm washclothes on it b4 and after nusring and try 2 pump some of the milk out, i just went thro that on 1 side and after 2/3 days of washclothes it went away

Well... I know that infections can cause pain, swelling, redness, and increased temperature of the breast.

Mastitis is usually associated with Staph bacteria – when it occurs in both breasts, it is usually caused by Strep, and can be more difficult to treat.

I think you should call your doctor and be checked out.

sorry i didnt know only 27wks. yeah since you have it and your not nursing yet. Def call your dr and get checked for infection

My Dr had told me to contact her if I had anything like that. I'd probably call your dr.

Breast infections -- nonlactational mastitis -- are possible during pregnancy. They often present with breast pain (usually one-sided), as well as fever and/or other flu-like symptoms.
A persistent case of thrush, which can present with shooting, deep breast pain, could also be present. Often women with thrush (candidiasis) have one or more of the following:

• a history of vaginal yeast infections
• use of antibiotics, steroids or birth control pills
• history of diabetes (including gestational diabetes), anemia, or immune system disorders
• diet high in sugars and dairy products

You need to be properly evaluated by your health care provider to determine the cause of your pain, and its appropriate treatment.
