Good for you! I get people disgusted with me all the time because apparently Rory is too young to tell no or to tap his hand when he does things dangerous like pull on a cord or try and take a bone from the dogs mouth or in church to put my finger over his lip and say shhhhh. Yup I'm evil and abusive, but as he ages and we discipline accordingly for age and his personality I bet he'll behave better than the smurfs he goes to school with!

Quoting The Doctor:" Haha! It will come in time. Have you tried just reading him stuff as he plays?   DD was the same ... [snip!] ...   DD was the same way, now she loves reading (when she's getting ready for bed). During the day... forget it. Too busy! haha"

And to Lola.. Not repeating for the sake of quoting both of you lol.

He usually is too busy either crying/whining because he's high maintenance or crawling around since he's just starting to get good and mobile. BUT we do try to have daddy read to him if I give him a bath so he's playing and listening to a story. Right now bedtime isn't even doable because he's such a hellion. It's literally dinner, right into the bath, and right to bed lol. I think though as he gets older that he'll enjoy it more as a mommy/daddy time thing especially since he'll have a little sister competing for attention.

That's how we are too. I hate parents who make ez uses or grow blame elsewhere for their child's behavior. We told lylian if she couldn't make good choices with her friend she should reconsider hanging out with her. But I won't tell her "she's getting in trouble You can't be her friend". I want my dd to make good choices and know who's a good friend and who's not. It won't help if I make those decision for her. When she got her name on the board I told her I was disappointed that she made a bad choice and she needed to make sure she followed te rules next time. I'm not gonna run in and be all "you hate my child, you're always singling her out, blah blah blah". My mom teaches 6th grade and she really sees the excuses and the parents who throw blame. "the teacher always loses my kids homework", etc. riiight...

I hear ya. DD was very much the same. She loves being read to, now. She can quote you the whole Lorax, and she tries to quote Shakespeare (often with hilarious results).

BF's mom used to read to him as he ate dinner. She found that worked well. haha

That's great! I did have a few teachers that singled me out, but it took a lot before my mother ever went in, unless it was religion based. Then she was on them like white on rice haha

Haha! Audio books are an awesome idea... I wonder if DD would like that...

I asked her what her favorite Shakespeare was and she says, "SINK UP MY WOUNDS!" Child after my own heart... trying to damn quote Richard III. LMAO.

If she likes Shakespeare you should let her watch David Tennant's Royal Shakespeare Company's Hamlet.
