posted 24th Jan
Hi! I heard pregnancy can eat and can not eat fish. One can not eat fish because it have mercury? but i heard them saying pregnancy can eat fish that does not have mercury and can eat certain kinds of fishes. I am confused! Which kinds of fish can I eat? but it got me thinking that I should NOT eat any kinds of fish during my pregnancy because I am scared to know that i am harming my baby. I don't want that to happen. Please help me knowing the real facts about fish for pregnancy. I don't trust GOOGLE!

I was told as long as I didn't eat a lot of it that I'd be fine. I was told to limit my shellfish though. The only thing I really eat when it comes to fish is shrimp lol

You can eat any fish, just not a lot of it. Of course as long as you are not allergic as well. As long as your not eating fish for breakfast 7 days a week and want it once in a while it will not be harmful to you or baby.

Been reading the headlines lately? Then chances are your head's swimming with fish stories. Fish is heart healthy! But wait, it's also full of mercury! Fish is loaded with baby-friendly DHA! But not so fast — it's also loaded with PCBs!

Avoid: Shark, swordfish, king mackerel, fresh tuna, sea bass, tilefish, mahimahi, grouper, amberjack, and fish from contaminated waters
Limit to six ounces per week: Canned (or packaged) albacore tuna and freshwater fish caught by family and friends
Limit to 12 ounces per week: Shellfish, canned (or packaged) light tuna, smaller ocean fish, farm-raised fish, and store-bought freshwater fish
Safely eat: Wild salmon, sole, flounder, haddock, halibut, ocean perch, pollack, cod, and trout

You can eat fish, just try to avoid certain fish that are high in mercury.

This.
I ate a lot of salmon while pregnant- it's really good for baby's brain development (as well as super healthy you, too!).

This might help plus what the other ladies posted.

Ask your dr too. Because we have so many people who fish around here my dr gives out a safe and not safe fish list plus one with Michigan fish as well. I'm sure your dr probably has a list.
