baby food?

posted 24th Jan
I have started my daughter on baby food, I was going to wait 6 months but started at 5 months because she was obviously ready. I looked for signs. Please dont bash me I know it is best to wait 6 months.

Anyways, how do I know how much I am suppose to give her and how do I tell if she is nice and full?
I don't want to over feed or under feed her.
I still give her a bottle of formula with rice cereal. (doctors orders)
I only give her the baby food in the morning when she wakes up, so once a day to slowly get her use to it.

When she turns away or wont eat anymore she is full but just starting out your only supposed to give one or two tbl spoons at a time

Before 1 year food is just for fun so I would just offer it to her and when she won't take any more stop. You pretty much still need to be giving her just BM or formula most of the time.

Like everyone else said, just give her an oz or two. If she wants more, give her another oz or two. When she starts to turn her head away or close her mouth when you offer her the spoon, then you'll know she's full.
Make sure you're giving her formula or breastmilk before the food, though. Formula/BM should be her primary source of nutrition right now, and you don't want baby food to take that away from her.

I wasn't sure if she got enough baby food this morning so I gave her a bottle afterwards and instead of her usual 6oz she only drank 4oz.
So I will start with the bottle in the morning and then give her a little baby food after.
I still just give her the baby food once a day.

Definitely do the bottle first. Like I said, those are where her essential nutrients should be coming from.
Make sure when you are introducing new foods, you are giving only one food at a time for a couple days to watch for signs of allergic reactions. If you are giving her mixed foods, make sure you have given her all but one of the ingredients (again, to watch for an adverse reaction). After a couple weeks you can try to give her more than one meal a day, but if she starts to cut out bottles, I would take it back down to one or two meals a day, until she's closer to one year.

Yeah I only have her on peas, shes been on it for 3 days.
so far no reactions, so I will try another next week and see how she does.
Thank you(:
