She's home!

posted 24th Jan
I know I've been blowing up the boards the last couple of days posting about the shelter cat I fell in love with.
Well I went and brought her home today!
I was a little nervous about it because she was so shy at the shelter, but you guys were right about cats behaving differently at the shelter than at home. From the minute I let her out of her carrier at home, she has been the most loving, sweetest, little purring ball of fur I've ever seen. She has been rubbing all over me since we got home. She rubs against me so hard that she has fallen over a few times. Even now as I'm typing this, she's batting at my pants leg, trying to get me to pay her attention. She constantly kneads her paws all over me too.
There is nothing shy at all about her.
She has a little cough, but I'm going to take her to the vet in the next day or so, so she should be fine. Also, she used the litter box when we first got home and it stinks to high heaven. Is there a way to make her poo not smell so bad? Is it because of her diet at the shelter or what?

I named her Nina. She is about 6 months old.

She is a BEAUTIFUL cat!!

And... not sure on the poop. Cat poop usually smells like smurf.

ha It might be the food but cat poo smells awful regardless of what they eat.

She's cute.

She is adorable!

Regarding the cat poop, use a grain-free diet for her. It is much healthier, their poop stinks less, and the food lasts longer (though the food is a bit pricier, you are essentially paying to have two more years of life with your new kitten!)

Also, I notice that your litter box doesn't have a lid. Get one that has a lid, and you shouldn't even notice the smell. Upon changing the litter box, you can sprinkle some baking soda at the bottom, or get a non-scented, clumping type of cat litter that has baking soda naturally added to it. It helps!

Awww yay that's awesome! I remember seeing your first post saying you fell in love with her but didn't have the money to get her right then so she was probably gonna be put down. I was hoping something would work out and I'm.glad it did! She is a beautiful kitty!

I was thinking about getting a lid for the box, but I didn't know if it would confuse her as to where to poo or not. But I will definitely pick one up! Thanks!
And I do have the baking soda stuff to help the litter box stay fresh. I hope it helps like it's supposed to.

I'm glad it worked out too. SO agreed to help since I wouldn't shut up about her. Lol. He was like, "You're gonna mope until they put her down and then you'll be upset for weeks after that, so go ahead and get her."

And thank you!
