Cytotec for miscarriage

posted 24th Jan
Today was my second follow up to check on the miscarriage and what my uterus is looking like. I found out at 10 weeks that I lost the baby a few weeks earlier. I started passing clots this Sunday (would have been 11 weeks). The worst of my cramps and passing lasted about 2 days and today she said there is still some debris in my uterus that needs to come out. She recommended cytotec for now. Have any of you taken this later in the miscarriage process after already passing most of the tissue? How long did the passing continue and how bad were the cramps with it? Did you still end up needing a d&c afterward or no?

I'm so sorry to hear that.   It was very hard to get that news. I'm doing a lot better though so it gets better. How far along were you?

The cytotec didn't work a whole lot for me. Like I said in the OP, I started passing on my own and at my appointment there was still tissue so they prescribed the meds. I took that dose and I never really bled a whole lot nor did I really cramp any. A week later they prescribed me a second dose because I still had some tissue inside. It didn't do anything and that following monday, which was 2 mondays ago, I had to have a d&c. I hope that doesn't happen to you, although it really wasn't painful and I was fine the next day. It was also a relief to finally know it was all over. Good luck, it's better to just get it over with so you can try to move on quicker the best you can.
