Would you be hurt?

I'm not gorgeous or even that good looking or ever claim to be. I'm a little overweight but I also just had my daughter 10 weeks ago so i'm still in the process of loosing my baby weight. My husband is very loud and out there, and jokes around alot so I take only a little of what he says serious. Last night he was telling me about the convo he had at work with his buddies about hot girls and big boobs and all that, and I was fine until he started saying he told the co workers "don't ever be with a hot girl cause they are rude and stuck up "...so I laughed and asked what he considered me and he said "average"...idk what it is but it hit me the wrong way and I feel really pissed about it. I'm a full time worker, on my days off i'm a stay at home mom who cleans and cooks and pays all the bills, i'm the bread winner in the family and pay all the bills. And to top it off i'm the mother of his children and his wife, I feel like even if i'm not the best looking woman (which i'm not by no means) he should think i'm more than "average"...am I wrong for being hurt?

Yes I would.

While I would be a little hurt by that myself you know he is not with you for your looks alone..

You can't help how you feel. I'm sure he did not intend for you to be hurt by what he said.
My husband is very honest with me too, which I appreciate most of the time   I just know now not to ask if my butt looks big in pants or something hahaha

I would be flipping smurf if my husband called me average. Even on my sweat pants and messy hair days(a lot the last couple years) I would like complements. Btw I think you are very pretty.

I would be hurt too. Talk to him about it if you think that it will make you feel better. He was probably just being a smart ass but it was still insensitive considering you just had a baby a few months ago.

I call myself average so I can't say anything if DH says the same thing because he is agreeing with me....

It wouldn't bother me too much, because I think I'm average. I know I'm not hot and I wouldn't expect him to tell me I am just because he thinks I want to hear it. I can understand how it made you feel a little uncomfortable, though.

At least you know he loves you for who you are, not what you look like. I also think you're pretty.

When I asked him if he was serious he did say yes, and that I didn't let him finish his story and that he told the guys he's glad he has an average girl who isn't so hot and high maintenance and he doesn't have to worry about guys trying to chase after me ...so it just made me feel even more like dirt. And thank you for the compliments

but I am the sensitive type so it would hurt me a little. Then again if DH would've said I was a hottie I'd know he was lying just to make me happy bc god knows I'm not.

I would have kicked him for that last comment. A man should never make his lady feel that way.

lol exactly what I told him, that I didn't expect the answer to be "hot" or "sexy" but at least something like "awesome mom" or "great wife" would have been nice, instead of average

It wouldn't have bothered me. Men sometimes have no clue that the way they say things can hurt us.

I think he's just being a man lol. Sometimes they're not the most eloquent. I *think* what he was trying to get at was he doesn't have to be insecure thinking other guys are always after you and that he's happy having you all to himself.
