Induction??

posted 24th Jan
OK so i 38 weeks tomorrow and have been having my membranes swept since just shy of 37 weeks to try and kick start labour as I have GD and a back injury. If I dont have bub by 39 weeks its policy to induce me completely due to my GD. IM now wondering if it would be completely silly for me to ask to be induced over the next few days instead, reason being we have just been forecast for some pretty decent flooding over the next 3-6 days and where I live if there is any flooding I have no way out of my property and I also have a very bad history of major bleeding after the births so cant really risk being at home in a flood and having bub at home. Oh by the way im in australia so any aussie mums with any advice on this would be great, I just dont know how the hospitals feel about induction at 38 weeks???

No im in NSW but not far from QLD lol I have an appointment tomorrow and am supposed to have another membrane sweep so might just ask then, was just wondering if anyone else had been induced around the same time as the earliest i have been induced with my previous pregnancy was the 39 weeks for the GD

You could suggest it, but i don't think they'll do it before 39 weeks. I had GD too, and mine was not under control and they ley me go to 40 weeks before they induced me.

Thanks for the reply   I always find it so weird how allt he doctors and different hospitals have different policy on things, I was told from the day we foudn out about my GD with my last bub that i would be induced at 39 weeks and same for this one... At the moment my big concern is the floods coming as I have actually been treated for preterm labour since 31 weeks and am already 4cms and Im still having nightly contractions so just dont wanna end up having bub at home in a flood and bleeding to death obviously...

Well doctor kept me in on the ward to avoid birthing in the flood as she thought I would go anyday after she checked me. Yesterday she came to see me on the ward and after me having more spotting she decided to just break my waters!! So in I went to have them broken and an hour and 45 minutes later Ivy Louisa was born at 38 weeks gestation 3.3kg or 7lb 4ozs and 51cms long or 20 inches. No complications at all thankfully and we are now settled in at home! Her big brothers just adore her!
