Ergos are nice, but they're not good for bigger babies/children because they have short bodies and narrow seat bases.
There's other SSCs out there that will last longer like Boba's, Beco, Action Baby Carriers, and Olives&Applesauce.

What she said lol I've heard Ergo's aren't the best for toddlers. I myself ordered the Infantino Sash Mei Tai because from all of the reviews I read & mamas I talked to it works well with both babies & toddlers

I'm only really planning to use it til 18mo or so.

Will it work til then? After that, they're just too big to carry much. I'm petite, so the kid goes into the stroller then. My son is 3 and has been WELL over half my height for a year.

I'll look at the Beco. I've heard great things about them. Do they work better for the toddler group?

It may actually work for you then. Make sure you look at the measurements. The build of the carrier is all about whose using it & how it fits you as well. You know your own measurements better than anyone else. Do you think a smaller carrier would work better for you? You can always return it or sell it if you decide you don't want it

I plan to return if I don't like it or exchange. I'm too round now to do a test fit, but it says up to 45lbs so I plan to test it with DH and DS (38lbs) and see how that works---mostly for curiosity. I put my dog in the Moby when I was pregnant with DS

The EcoSash has a 14" seat and ababout 19" body. The Ergo has about a 13.5" seat so not much different, but I do like tthe ease of using a mei Tai

Sorry I know the measurements off hand because I just did a ton of research before I ordered my ABC toddler carrier lol.

OP an ergo should work for you if you don't plan on wearing into the later toddler years. I needed something toto carry my 32lb 15 month old and 30lb 2.5 ye old and the Ergo was just not big enough.

Also you could totally wear your other LO while still pregnant, just do a high back carry and buckle above your bump. That is if you end up getting something before the baby is born. Lots of mamas babywear through pregnancy

What's the body measurement on the Ergo?

And I might like the shorter body...I'm 5'3 and most carriers put baby way down low on me, even with having a long torso for my height.

I'm high risk so I can only carry up to 10lbs...so baby wearing is out til the newb comes!

Plus, my son is almost 4, just a hair shy of 41in, and 38lbs.

I weigh 140pre-preg, am 63in tall...

Yeah, he's big enough to walk!!! He barely ever asks to be carried anyway and prefers a stroller when he gets to that point so he can just konk out

Gotcha! Yeah both ky kids can walk too obviously lol, but they hate being in the stroller for long periods and LOVE being held

Oh the Ergo body is only 13" tall. Most other carriers are closer to 15-16"
Here's a neat little chart, sorry I can't link I'm on my phone

I was up because the coyotes kept scaring Bandit and he kept waking The guys and such.

As for the carriers, I'll go try them on and exchange if the Ergo doesn't work. Since in dont plan to use it for later toddler years (you've seen me and my kid, can you imagine me trying to baby wear him? Even a year ago?), I think I'll be okay.

is there a local shop that sells cloth diapers and such near you? I know babies R us you can test out the Ergo on yourself. But I really needed to know what the beco was like. Colorado has one...so I went in and my goodness the difference from an Ergo and Beco are 100%

I can share a pic of my mom wearing Gavin if youd like, shes about 5'4 -5'5 and shes in a size 12-10 pants. I don't know her weight lol. this is the beco Gemini it only goes to 35 pounds and there is no extra hood part, but theres no need for infant insert start to wear at 7 pounds.

I'm a plus size girl, you know, and the ergo was just too boxy like on my shoulders and I felt like I was suffocating.

hope this helps!!=]
