Do you ever feel like your working for nothing?

posted 24th Jan
Ah stupid work computer.

Do you ever feel that no matter how many hours you work or what you do it all goes nowhere? That you never have any money to do anything, go anywhere, or even enough to feel comfortable. I'm just feeling down today I suppose.

I used to hate working. I knew I was never going to move up any further than I was so as soon as I became pregnant I quit and I will never go back. Hopefully you are recognized for your hard work and get a promotion.

Yep. Like now. We've been broke since October and when we finally started getting caught up because we were being forced to work over time I spent money on crap that wasn't even worth it and now we're broke again and still being forced to work over time and I am in a baaaaaad mood about it since I go to school full time and need these couple of weeks before DS2 gets here to work ahead in my classes.

I would love to sell one of our rental propertys but Dh wont budge!!

Oh how was work today? Were they patient and nice to you or Did you kill them with kindness.

I think its because even though we've just got caught up on a lot of overdue bills and things from when SO was unemployed and I was only working casual hours. But now we're trying to get on top with the things that we only just managed to get going in that time and I'm finding that money still isn't brilliant. I mean I just got paid today and most of that is going to be gone by the end of the week.

I know most people are probably in the same situation but I'm just feeling down right now

I sure do know that feeling, I worked and actually got paid well but the living cost in NY was so high that I was living completely paycheck to paycheck.

I know that feeling. We get paid on Friday and after ALL of it is gone we'll still be behind. We have all our big bills due this week and our mortgage due next week and we haven't put anything back for it yet. I usually work M-F and got an email today stating our entire department HAS to work Sat and Sun too and then I have to work another M-F with no days off in there anywhere and we'll STILL be behind all because in October the company we both work for shut down unexpectedly for a week and with the new unemployment laws we couldn't get paid for it. Then they shut down again for a week in Christmas. I never spend any money and I blew $150 on maternity photos this weekend because I worked 12 hours of overtime just to be able to get them done and I got them back today and they are smurfing awful so I have been sitting here on the couch for the past 2 hours bawling my eyes out, embarrassed I'm even tagged in them on FB and kicking myself for working so hard to pay that kind of money for something so awful. I love what I do, but they absolutely do not pay me enough. I always work 40 hours, yet I'm "part time" so I get no paid holidays, no paid maternity leave, no PTO, no benefits whatsoever, but they can force me to work all kinds of overtime when it's convenient.

We paid my mortgage last week ... this pay I'm paying off the last of my personal loan ($570) coz I'm sick of it hanging over our heads. The normal car payment and then all our other incidentals which all together comes to around $1734 and we got paid about $2764. I know that doesn't sound to bad but I really want to get a nice bit of a cushion underneath us and we DESPERATELY need a new fridge and I refuse to have a credit card.

I just feel depressed.

We're getting paid $600 this week and we have $500 in bills aside from our mortgage which is $630 and we need $140 to spend on food and gas for the week, so we're going to have to pick one bill not to pay this week to be able to buy groceries and then our mortgage is going to be late too. This year is off to a bad start for us. Our A/C unit went out in August and our furnace is about to go too and we just had to pay a plumber to fix our bathtubs last week. Our entire tax check is already spent and we can't even filed yet and all I can think about is how nice it would be to able to buy a shampoo that costs more than $3 for a family bottle for once   Great priorities there, momma     So I'm feeling depressed too. Hopefully you guys can get your new fridge soon and then since you're paying off your loan that'll be one less bill to worry about, right? Then you'll be able to build a cushion sooner.

yeah pretty much ... even though the $570 is a heap this pay it means saving a tonne in interest

I did that with our last loan on our washer and dryer and I was so happy when it was paid off even though it had only been like $50 a month.
