Carpal tunnel

My dr thinks i may have early signs of carpal tunnel so I've been wearing wrist splints on both wrists since yesterday. he wants to see if wearing the splints for a week helps before doing any MRI/xrays.

My wrists leading up to my thumb is killing me even with the splints on. I feel like i may need the MRI.

If you have carpal can you explain to me what it feels like? what do they do to fix it? how would it affect me in the future?

It hurts like a bitch and makes your hands go numb and sometimes they have stabbing feelings in them. Like if you seriously pick up your child with your wrist in the wrong position your hand can just suddenly go completely numb and I have had it try to cave when that happens. That is my experience with it anyway. I actually found that just wearing the wraps at night and not all day is what helped the most but everyone is different.

Hey honey it usually presents itself as numbness in the thumb and first 2 fingers, wakes u up at night, can cause increased clumsiness, a lot of people also say it can affect grip.

At our trust first line of treatment is usually the splints, like u have, then steriod injections and finally if not resolved onto surgery where they make a small incision at the base of ur palm to release the tight band formed over ur nerves.

On a positive note most cases in pregnancy where carpal tunnel develops it does resolve itself. I hope it gets better for u honey xxx

I forgot about the grip thing. You try to grab a cup and pick it up then your hand goes numb and away goes the cup. Or it just makes it super painful until you put the cup down.

i don't think what i have is numbness in the thumb and first two fingers but it's like a pain. Ive yet to have my and go numb it's jus panful.

I'm not pregnant though so it's so unfortunatly it's not something pregnancy related.

it just hurts like a bitch and sometimes the pain will shoot up into my shoulder this really sucks
