What would you do?

Alright please do NOT quote or be rude.
So here is the situation, my mom has Lymes Disease and MS, and I also have Lymes but for now it is in remission but the doctor said it could come back at anytime. Also I was told I should ask for a C-Section at 39 weeks and here is why, and dont get rude or nasty on this part... My mom had lymes before she had me and she had me vaginally, my mom is now a vegatable and can NOT do anything. Before she had me when her lymes was in remission, she was a classical pianist and was a cheerleader, she could do anything, now she can't do anything at all, not even feed herself. She started going downhill very fast about a week after I was born, later in life found out she had the MS and was told she would be dead by Christmas of 1995 because she had gotten so bad. (she is still alive today) I was raised by my grandparents. I was also told if I do a vaginal delivery I will most likely, ultimately end up like my mother and be in a wheelchair the rest of my life. So my question for you is Should I request the C-Section? or just risk going and doing the vaginal delivery and possibly never walk again? sorry for the long post, but please tell me what you would do.

Never heard of Lyme disease causing paralysis after vaginal birth.

The risk of losing all function more than permits requesting a C-section IMO.

While I know there are a large amount of very pro-VB people, I think it is definitely NOT worth the risk. You wouldn't want to miss out on a normal life raising your new baby. And scheduled csections are not that bad on you at a good hospital and you get a few extra days of having nurses helping you with the baby the first few days so you can get lots of sleep after the ordeal which is priceless! Good luck honey!

I never did either, never put 2 and 2 together until the dr brought it up and now I'm freaked out.. And now I blame myself for her being like she is. I really wanted to do a vaginal delivery, but my dr has me spooked:/

Thank you so much! I'm gonna need all the luck I can get. I can't sleep now with so many thoughts running through my head
ugh so frustrated.

I'd get a second opinion.
I'd think (knowing many people who had Lyme and vaginal deliveries) that the MS is more likely the issue with your mom's paralysis (pregnancy can make MS worse). MS is known for being debilitating and for sudden change, especially without treatment (like during pregnancy), etc.
Have you been tested for MS?
If the 2nd opinion says your risk of serious damage is significant, I'd opt for the scheduled C.

Your mom has MS, too? What are the chances her paralysis was due to the MS and not the Lyme Disease?

I am all about VB but in your case I would opt for the C-section you will be 39 weeks the baby will be at a healthy week to deliver and if I had the option to be bed ridden and never see my child grow up or have a surgery and be able to be part of my child’s life I would choose the surgery.

They haven't tested me for MS, even though I have requested to be tested multiple times. I am hoping they will test me since my ob is the one saying about the Lymes being the problem... I always thought the MS is what caused her to be the way she is not Lymes but lately I have had all the symtoms that she had and the symtoms of my lymes again. So tomorrow at my appt I'm gonna ask again for another blood test to see if my lymes is back and if I have MS as well. If it's positive on the MS I'm gonna opt out and do the C-Section.

I have lymes and never once was told any of this.....
Im thinking it had alotttt more to do with her MS. NOT lymes.
Id do vaginal.
And get a second/third opinion.....

I thought lymes is a disease you get by being bit by an infected tick and its treated with antibiotics? Pregnant women cant take the doxycycline that's usually prescribed but another antibiotic should be an option. Ive never heard of lymes disease causing any kind of complications during pregnancy with the mother or the child.
