Could my nipples be too big?

I am a little nervous about the new baby latching. My first baby did not want to have anything to do with the boob. I blamed the whole experience on the fact that they gave her a bottle right after birth. I pumped for 6 months!

I am thinking about this new baby and wondering if my nipples could be too big? I compare my nipple to a baby bottle nipple and my nipples are huge! Could it be too hard for the tiny little mouth to latch? Even my friends nipples are tiny compared to mine. I really want it to work this time!!

I have larger nipples and you get the hang of it.

I am sure baby will be fine with them!! Make sure you tell them your plans to breastfeed. I can't believe someone fed your baby a bottle without your consent!

I was getting stitched back up and the pedi on duty said her "numbers were low" and she needed to be fed. I was upset but I thought it was a more serious situation... it wasn't till later that I knew better.

Thanks. I just feel like if it's going to fill her little mouth, she wont be able to swallow.

I thought the breast was supposed to fill their mouth?

no because when your nips go into baby's mouth they will stretch and ..... well they wont be so big

They did the same thing to me with my oldest, they took her to the nursery while I was in recovery and gave her a bottle to "soothe" her, I was livid.
But mine are really big too, you just have to keep trying and make sure you get a good latch.

Mine are ridiculously big. Like seriously, they're the size of the palm of my hand! Last time I had a lot of issues with supply and latching. I ended up trying nipple shields and they worked until I dried up from stress.... I saw a lactation consultant to try to rebuild and she was really mean! I was trying to get her to explain the proper way to latch the baby and I asked how to get him to take the nipple properly? She went off at me about how it's not called NIPPLE FEEDING. It's called BREAST FEEDING and nipples have nothing to do with it..... Ummm, I'm pretty sure they do... I guess in her world, women without nipples can breastfeed too  

I also have large nipples, he latched fine but my nipples were so sore because he had to suck really hard to get milk. I wound up pumping for day time and actually breast feeding at night but I only made it 6 months. I heard the nipple shields help a lot, maybe try them this time around.

I am hoping they aren't too big. It's not the areola (sp), it's my actual nipple. Compared to a bottle nipple it's like twice the size. I tried nipple shields with Jenna and no go. I am hoping for the best here. Thanks!! Glad you guys have big nipples too.... I think.
