On average....

On average how long after you lose your "bloody show" did you go into labor.. Not your mucous plug, your nasty blood tinged gunk. I'm just curious.

Quoting Landy Ray:“ I never had that?”

I never did either, I was induced. But it could happen any day with in the next two weeks. Thats what my book said.

Bloody show is a result of progressive dilation of your cervix, it is caused by the little cappilaries breaking as it opens and your cervix begins to produce eggwhite-ish slimy mucous to help lubricate in preparation for birth.... So generally true "bloody show" is accompanied by labor fairly soon. However, its possible to break a few cappilaries in your cervix during the regular predilation, or around the time you lose your mucous plug, and if it was just a little spotting, it can stop and still be a few weeks til you go into labor. Its hard to know unless you've been through it or seen it before... but if it continues and its accompanied by contractions at all, then its likely real labor will start pretty soon.

After I had my bloody show with my last pregnancy it was a few hours before I went into labor.

In my personal experience, I had been having mild contractions all day, had my first bloody show around 2pm... and some every time I wiped after that. (very stringy, stretchy clear mucous tinged pink and red with blood) I went into actual labor about 7:30 that night and had my daughter 7 hours later!   Somewhere around 5 or 6 cm dilated (in very active labor) I went to the bathroom and had a HUGE long string of bright red blood/mucous, kinda like an entire eggwhite's worth of it!   She was born just a few hours later.

After my show my contractions started within half and hour and I was in active labour 2 hours after that. The whole labour was about 31/2 hours. This was with my second child though. I was induced with my first and labour was 6 hours

I had my membranes stripped on thursday and thursday night I had some of my "bloody show". Anyway, I know that sometimes it takes a while I was just curious. I have been having braxton hicks now for a while, none of them regular. They aren't too painful either. I just wish this show would hurry up and get on the road. It's hot, I'm miserable, and this is baby number three so I figured it would have happened by now, especially with a little push from the doctor. I've cleaned all I can clean. I'm becoming a total bitch.
For my sanity and the sake of those around me I hope this happens sometime real soon. LOL.

HAHA   I'm sorry! It will come, dont worry.   I know its hard to wait it out though. The bloody show may have just been from having your membranes stripped... that can cause spotting and it can cause your cervix to dilate a little more as well, so hopefully if you keep active you can get the show on the road!!! Walk walk walk! Keep that baby's head applied to your cervix and hoepfully it will get the message. LOL *labor dust*
