That is a smurfing stupid thing to say. I know many women who have started their families at 17 and 18 because they have a DH who makes enough to support the family. Then they stay at home and go to college while their DH works. I think that is just a smurf thing to say. Smurfing bullsmurf is what that is. I would have had to hold myself back from bitch slapping that person.

I don't know the girl or her situation, so I can't agree that it is a good point. She could have been a wonderful mom. However, I do see what the guest means because of my own personal experience. I recently miscarried, and while I was really upset, I also thought to myself "Well, it wasn't the right time for us, anyway."

But I don't think it is something that should be said to someone miscarrying, definitely not. Although it's meant with good intention, it's still plenty hurtful and can come off as insensitive.

I think it's just as disgusting as telling someone who's infant passed that it was for the best. I'm actually disgusted

I see where she was coming from and I think she had a point, and was probably trying to find a "positive" to come of such a negative. But it wasn't the time for it.

I don't see how anyone thinks she has a point! As others have said just because she is 18 does not mean she would have been a bad mother!! She was legally an adult and if she wanted to have kids that age, no one should judge her or assume her age indicates maturity or mothering ability.

Yeah, it's something for her and her SO to possibly say out loud at some point to try to accept it, but it's something for everyone else to just think.

Man, people have no filter these days. Whatever happened to keeping smurffy comments to yourself? To say something like that, at a time like that. If I were miscarrying, and a friend or family member said that to me, I would have slapped them and told them to get smurf out of my sight.

No point. Noone knows her situation. She couldve graduated and been engaged, or in college or anything. Theres no point unless you know her background. Dumbasses with big feet in their mouths should not work in a medical environment where they have to interact with emotional people. SMH

From what I've learned, talking about patients like that is a huge no-no.
Maybe even a HIPAA violation.

Apparently the guest knew the person well enough to form an opinion and say something like that. The girl could have been a HORRIBLE mom. However she could have also been a WONDERFUL one as well.

It wasnt the staff who said that, they mumbled in agreement after it was said by HER guest.

The patient or any others didn't hear it

Its not a violation, because the staff didnt say anything.

I don't know. I agree that she does has her life ahead of her, but I think the way her guest worded it was wrong and insensitive. She was probably trying to help her friend see the bright side, but no woman wants to be told that her miscarriage was for the best.

But some people just look at age, not at capability, finances, or stability. I bet it was a mom or an aunt or such. So no matter how well she knew her, im sure this guest already had her mind made up in general.
