Well, who is paying for the shower? Typically the person paying is the person throwing it. So, if you pick out the stuff and your mom pays and prepares for it, I would say she's throwing it.

If you just say she's throwing it, and then you pay for everything, and get everything ready the day of I would say you're the one throwing it.

Typically the mother only has to show up for her shower. In a perfect world, lol. That's what I did with mine. My moms bff threw it for me, and she took me to pick out invitations/party ware and then I gave her my guest list. She handled the rest. She told me when and where to show up- and I did.

Thank u I know I do ...and let's jump to a conclusion I am dyslexic ...it has taken me 9 years to get to we're I am spelling now  !! So I am very proud of my spelling ...thanks very much

Ya that's because there are two ...the one with my mom she is mostly doing the one I have an issue with is the one were I live ..my aunt said she would do it mostly and a couple friends said if I need anything to ask ....

That's the one were I see me doing a lot more of the work as in paying an picking stuff out ....my aunt will probably set it up and do that part and that's why this whole topic got started...because I wasn't sure if that ment I was throwing my own or not

IMO I don't think it's tacky, but I feel much better knowing someone else is hosting it. I don't like the idea of two baby showers though. I am having my originally planned shower when I'm 35 weeks (hosted by my mom, but I helped pick out decorations and things). After that, my grandma wants to throw me one because I guess my family is too stubborn to come together for the celebration of my child. This is my first, so I have NO idea how I'll be feeling 36+ weeks, and I'm worried I'll get two of things I don't need two of, then I'd have to find time to go take one back. So to me the thought of two showers is just kind of overwhelming.

I had two with my first daughter, since my family is five hours away from DH's family, and it was cheaper and easier for us to go down there than for a bunch of people to drive to us.

That's understandable. My family is at most a half an hour away though. My parents split up about 4 years ago and my dad's mom can't put aside all of that (although my dad is beyond over the divorce) to come to my baby shower. She wants me to have another hosted by her, but I don't want two. I don't want to seem ungrateful though, I just wish they'd all get along for the celebration of my child. Your situation though is totally different and COMPLETELY understandable.

Lol very true. But like I said before, I feel like I'll be overwhelmed if I have to go taking things back at 36+ weeks. But who knows. This is my first time around. I have no idea how I'll feel then.
